I read a post about TPB having a virus, and I wanted to let users of TPB that it has a not only one but TWO different ones I've picked up. It has the antivirus 2009 virus, AND the Windows Defender 2010 virus. Both of these I picked up just buy BROWSING MY OWN TORRENTS (not opening or downloading from TPB), simply by visiting the site. These viruses are the usual....popups from hell telling you that your computers infected, malware has been detected, and looks like a scan program from windows (even adds an icon to your system tray that looks like a shield). The newest one I got was called Windows Defender 2010 virus. After HOURS of trying to get my computer to work (since this virus disables all .exe or executable files, renames all your shortcuts, and you cant open any programs like Antivirus programs, McCaffe, Norton, system restore, or task manager) I finally figured out how to kill it, and I'd like to post a couple of sites to help others get rid of it as well. The first site is www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-internet-security-2010

Thats a step by step procedure on how to terminate the virus, and also listed on that site are other virus names, and how-to-fixes.
Another one is www.dougknox.com If you got a virus that has disabled your .exe files, theres many fix tools for file associations that will get your computer running to the point you can use your malware-AV programs, since the virus has disabled them

Bleepingcomputer site has removal steps for most OS, and most of the common named viruses to date, and its not too technical, so a person with little knowledge about computers should be able to walk through the steps provided.

Finally, I'd like to say to users of Thepiratebay.org to PLEASE try to contact the site admins, owners, or mods, to let them know about this issue. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. People who dont know about viruses, and such, spend HUNDREDS of dollars fixing computers infected by their site! I LIKE TPB, and I have emailed them with no response, but I refuse to visit their site any more, until they DO SOMETHING about it. Just a note before I go, I also have read posts, saying that AVAST, and Google Chrome virus alerts for TPB are false positives, and the alerts should be ignored....I beg to differ. If you dont believe me, go browse the site for awhile. Just remember to bookmark this thread...you'll be back for the sites I listed. (and PRAY you have firefox installed), because that virus disables all other browsers like I.E. and Google Chrome. Good luck, and I hope this might help someone out here.
