The site looks very dull. Designing is not good. Its very plain like without any content. Change the colors. Put a logo and a picture.

Doesn't this go against the whole purpose of art? I mean, the artists should not be taking requests or copying the ideas of others, and the art fans should appreciate the art for itself; not for a website about it.

Somebody misses the point (not you KB) .. art galleries are supposed to be a neutral space. A gallery with no artworks is just a large blank empty space. In that respect the site is just fine and very minimalist and fit for purpose.. after all it's about the ART not about the flashy web design.
Now to KB's point .. I get where you are coming from. Art is supposed to be original. Very few modern artists have produced directly for the commercial profit.. Warhol did what he did to make a point about "art as product" and did it very very well. He was greatly criticised by the "establishment" of art critics, which just proves his point.. art .. good art.. provokes a reaction... A facsimilie of a soup can mass produced is just as much "art" as a Van Gogh .. the method is different.. the aim the same.. to provoke an emotional response. Vincent painted for himself and hid his pictures away .. Andy made hundreds of prints and sold them in snazzy art galleries... and???
Another overlooked fact is.. all artists to an extent copy and feed from what has gone before. Banksy is surely influenced by the Ulster murals.. Lichtenstein by comic book art.. Warhol by mass produced consumer products.. and so on and so on .. Something being derivative doesn't invalidate it.. "in the style of".. or "influenced by" are instead rather familiar and non-threatening. The symbols of communist revolution are now household images.. they survive as popular art long after their original meanings have been lost. Artists like Barney Bubbles produced posters and lp covers which harked back to the art of nazi Germany in many ways, more in style than content. So to say that for artists to ask for commission works is somehow "wrong" is to make an assumption that to be art it must be totally original and totally free from commercial interest.. both are wrong.. The great masters painted for profit the images and landscapes of the rich and famous... well.. most of them did .. but not all, and it is the exceptions which prove the rule.

I refer to__Artchival.Proboards.com
After you click on the Contemporary Art board and then check out the thread on
ELIZABETH MURRAY..........what are your opinions & comments about her artworks.
She passed away back in 2007 ( from lung cancer ) so you can say what you want
without fretting whether or not she'll be offended. I'm curious to read the posts
from members here at AfterDawn.com
This website is only 10 days old:
http://allartallthetime.proboards.com/index.cgi
AllArtAllTheTime.Proboards.com
( so, you may want to check it out too and provide a bit of feedback ).
This site became activated and fully functional on Thursday Dec. 16, 2010.
Don't miss the content regarding the Sol LeWitt thread within the
Conceptual Art board ( ONEWORDMOVIE is a program you'll want to try ).

So, what do you members think of my new website ?
[ AllArtAllTheTime.Proboards.com ].
Here's the link to my thread titled:__Black & White Photography__various artists.
http://allartallthetime.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fifhteen&action=display&thread=80&page=1
After you arrive, scroll down approx. 80% of the page to:
PORTFOLIO SECTION. There you'll find Ansel Adams and others with
20 to 97 photos within each portfolio. These portfolios open pages
like a book....you'll find it to be very cool indeed. It's a fast way
to view some outstanding contemporary photographs. Hope you enjoy your
experience ( and maybe tempted to register and join my site FREE ).

Those are certainly not my cup of tea but isnt that what art is all about. Looking at them again I am reminded of those old shower curtains or vinal table covers you might see on holidays in a caravan park, but I have to admit some amount of work went into them.
BTW I really like those Black and White Photos by Ansel Adams, Now they are my cup of tea.

@ dub12dave____your post #9
Sorry to read the labor-intensive drawings by ANDREA WAY
http://artchival.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=contemporary&action=display&thread=4833
( located within the Contemporary Art board on the site ).
were not your cup of tea. Museums seem to love her works
because she's already in several important collections.
Serious collectors pay close attention to what art museums place
in their collections ( to help decide on what art to purchase ).
Glad you enjoyed the Ansel Adams photos on my own website
[ AllArtAllTheTime.Proboards.com ]. I love his work too !!
Refer to my post #7 on this thread.
Getting back to 'What's your opinion?' of the website:__Artchival.Proboards.com
You may want to check out the works by pop surrealist artist:__Bernard Dumaine
( located within the Pop Surrealism/Low Brow Art board ).
Here's the link:
http://artchival.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=artists&action=display&thread=5171
His work may or may not be your cup-of-tea....but I hope you click on the
links to his artworks and check them out.
Also, you may find it interesting to click ' 100 most recent posts ' located at
bottom left on the homepage at Artchival.Proboards.com
( it shows you the most current postings by members of the site ).
They post photos of artworks as well as comments/critiques.
