128meg memory card issue

I have had to format my memory card a few times this year and each time I format it I loose half the space on the card. I formatted it using free mcboot 1.8c any idea how to fix the problem? I dont dare to just format again with a different method. The memory card is an off brant and I have a ps2 fat ntsc system if that helps. Thanks

Sometimes these off brands are made cheaply and give problems.

Thank you it worked great. You know your stuff when it comes to ps2's. I wonder if this will work on an action replay max card? Its totally dead anyways so nothing to loose I guess.

Your Welcome.It should work on any PS2 memory card including the max card.

Where did you buy your memory card from? I'm looking to get a 128mb one, that works. I was going to get mine off of amazon, here. Is this the same as yours?

Glad to here it. I added a lot of elf files to my exploit including psxloader.elf and now my fat scph 50001 will boot ps1 games but I still have to swap disks though. also the 50001 and higher fat will load dvd+r's instead of just the dvd-r's like the earlier ones for anyone that is wondering.

If you want you can make backups every so often onto USB drive, using uLe.
I have done this from time to time as I have 64mb memory cards, and sometimes I just hate after playing a game for long time, that the memory card screws up.
At least with backups, you can restore it again and not loose too much data.

I got a new issue with my memory card now. After installing free mcboot 1.8 my card reads fine for a bit but if I use the hard drive then reboot it my ps2 doesn't see the card. If I mess with it for a while I can get it to read for a short time. I know its not my ps2 because this is the only card that does it but all my others are oem 8meg. I tried the card in my slim after it wasn't seen by my fat and the slim couldn't see it ether. The card I have the issue with is my generic 128meg. I need at least 12megs just for my exploit and wonder If I just got a defective card or is there certain brands that are better. Does s
Sony make a bigger memory card? I need 20 memory cards for an order but don't dare to buy one till I know what will work good with a 12meg exploit. I cant have multiple calls saying everyone's cards junked out. Any help would be appreciated

Sony doesn't make 128mb memory cards, they are third party.
I myself use Datel 32/64mb memory cards as I know they are good
Some have said these Katana are also very good.

The problem with 128mb is finding a good quality and not cheap clone or you will have issues.

I have a slim and am having the same issues as you are. It seems to be random. I don't know why, but when I put it in the second memory card spot it works fine. I can only get it to work once I load free mcboot off of my 16mb Datel memory card, go into ulaunchelf, and swap out the memory cards a few times. The only difference in the mc slots is that the first one seems a bit looser than the second.
I read somewhere that if you loosened the screws a little it would work. It worked for a little while, but I turned off my ps2 and when I turned it back on, It didn't recognize:(

Wow mine reads in the second slot better to. I have a flip top to boot psx games with psxloader.elf from my memory cars and the doors on my card slot sticks a bit. My problem is random to. If I usr my hard drive then reboot it does it every time. If my exploit was smaller I could use a stock card but I noticed some games require different methods to boot so I have every elf file I could find on the card to experiment and learn what works best. Then in a month or 2 what I figure I don't need I can remove. I'm getting both of the cards smokyrain mentioned to try. I have 25 working ps2's and plan to sell a few with memory cards exploited where I spent bill money on Christmas for the kids. You'd be surprised how mush people will pay for that on ebay. I start the bid at $1 plus actual shipping and let them bid what they will. I never walker away with less than $150 and feel bad for the winning bidder but if they want to bid that high then its there fault not mine. I noticed go cyber shop has a mod chip for $13.63 plus shipping. PS2013 ModBo V4.0 ModChip No Swap wonder how good it is. I'm good at soldering and built a 7800 atari cart dumper with a new board and burned all the chips myself. I had to modify the schematics a bit cause some parts were obsolete but it works great.

Wow just checked my ebay and all my auctions were pulled. They claim that its illegal to have a system that will play backups. I had 3 burned games with my listings but included the damaged originals with it to be within the law. How do I sell these now? I'm sure I broke no laws and saw other people get away with it for weeks. Why me I got almost 2 grand tied up in exploited ps2's and no market now does amazon do that to. I wasn't sure where to stuff this comment but I mentioned it in the above post so I put it here.

I don't think that its illegal, unless didn't include the original game.
About the katana memory card, I read a review and it's not like a regular memory card. For the 32mb one, you can switch between four 8mb "pages". So it's like four memory cards in one case. I believe that I'll just pick up a 32mb datel from walmart. A while back, I bought a 16mb one for 15 dollars, and now they have 32mb ones for 15 dollars.
