First of all as it is my first post, I would like to say that this forum has something that others don't, I believe it is a very good forum talking about software/hardware of computer in addition of consoles. So lets come across my problem with my Playstation 2 console.
Well its obvious that its Playstation 2 related as this is its forum..
Anyway I have a slim Playstation 2 console of the following specifactions:-
1- Version: SCPH 70004
2- Color: Satin Silver (needed?)
3- I guess its a modded console as it reads the torrent downloaded games, (I only tried Crazy Taxi as I only have a CD-writer) and it reads cheap games (probably backups) as the original games are really expensive.
4- I also have a 8 MB memory card.
I have made a network setup settings file and save it on the memory card using an online game and it said that the connection was successful.
Now, when I try to go into the online section of a game and chooses the network connection settings(which had been reported as successful) I just go to the DNAS authentication and wait for hours with no result, it just says "Authenticating DNAS...." with the moving dots part and as I mentioned before gives nothing more than that window. Even if I tried to hit the triangle button which works as Cancel, it does nothing. But if I hit the triangle button in the first 10 seconds or so, it cancels the operation and goes back to the game.
Well maybe the DNAS of the game hadn't been changed so that the online thing work, but shouldn't it at least give me an error message?
Hoping for an answer for my questions.

It won't work otherwise.
Yes, I have read that before and understand how to do so.
But shouldn't it at least give me an error?

Maybe the servers are down or terminated for the game you chose?

I guess only Smackdown vs Raw 2006 is still online from the 3 I have tried but it still gives no error and the message of data authenticating takes forever.

I found that I would get no error and taking forever to authenticate when I didn't patch it
But if its patched, then it should work.

I really thank you for your help as you tried to burn a game for me :p
and I guess we are done with that issue.
Well here is another question and I hope it would be the last.
When I burn CDs now it only works when using Alcohol and using the RAW DAO method or the DVD Decrypter, NERO didn't work and I didn't try CloneCD or IMGburn yet. Later, I tried to burn a DVD-R as the CDs are really small in size and I gave my friend a game and another image which is the network access disk and I burned it with his DVD writer using a remote assistance program, two ways were tried, first was Alcohol with DAO method and the PS2 said that it can't read it and it wants a PS/PS2 format (that red window) the other way was DVD Dycrypter and my PS2 didn't read it all, it just came across the browser and system configuration.
So what do you think? Is it the DVD-R manufacture? The DVD-Writer? The burning method? The writing speed? The program used? Or is it something in my console?
I am going to buy a new desktop computer anyway which is going to include a DVD-Writer and I will try every way to make it work.I may also take my PS2 to of my friends that own a DVD-Writer. But what do you think?

Hey, I don't mind your questions.
If you have a .bin and .cue file then that is CD and when you burn with Alcohol 120, select Playstation 2 as the 'Datatype'
It should burn fine then. Also burn it at about 1/4 speed of the disc speed. I usually choose 12x-16x to burn CD at.
If you have a .ccd file, then use Alcohol or Clone CD
If you have an ISO image then use DVD Decrypter or Imgburn
It could very well be your burner or your burn speed or settings.
Yeah if you can try burning at your friends and see if that works or not until you have a new computer yourself.
Does your PS2 have any problems reading Original CD or other CD backups?
You could try cleaning your laser lens with rubbing Alcohol and a q-tip
Clean in a circular motion for about 30 secs, then using dry end of q-tip, dry it for about 6-8 secs.

Well, I don't think it has any problem with the lens or the mod.
My playstation was able to boot an original game and those games which I said are cheap and I believe that they are back ups, so its no problem with the console. Also the best way that works with me is choosing Playstation 2 in Alcohol 120% and the writing method was automatically changed to RAW DAO and as no DVD-Writer supports RAW DAO method and when selecting Playstation 2, the method didn't change to RAW DAO so I started getting worried that time :P, I have and still have a problem burning DVDs so lets just focus on the DVD burning thing, Anyway I will try every way till I find the working one with my console and put your instructions as a high priority.
And I guess you mean that I write a DVD at 4x?
A big thanks to you and your provided help!

By the way, the way that I used last was DVD Decrypter when the console wasn't able to read it saying "The disc could not be read" when entering "Browser"

If the game is a CD then 'Raw Dao' is correct.
If its a DVD ISO image, then it will burn using 'DAO'
If your sure its not your PS2 laser or modchip, then it must be the DVD Writer
You could try another brand of media, but Verbatim are good choice.
Usually 'disc read error' has to do with the laser.
And yes I meant burn at 4x for DVD ISO

Well I made a mistake saying that you meant 4x as mostly the DVD-R max speed is 8x, so I guess you mean 2x?
Next time I burn, I will use DVD Decrypter and I will use different types of DVD-R manufacture, and tell you the result.
Now, assuming that the max speed is 8x, shall I burn at 2x or 4x?

No I meant to burn at 4x, even if your DVD-R max speed is 8x
It is just the most stable burn for PS2 games. Too slow can cause problems as well as too fast.

Well I was scattered as you said you use to burn at quarter of the max speed but okay 4x then.
Last question I guess, what does it mean with the PAL/NTSC games?
or what are the difference between them? I mean most of my games and my TV can work with both of them. But whats the difference?

To be more accurate what does the region in the online games mean?
North America, PAL regions, Japan and Korea.
Does this mean that only those can play online? and if so, I am in Egypt, can I play online?

I meant 1/4 for burning CD games. DVD games burn at different speed.
NTSC games are North America USA/CA and Japan is NTSC also
PAL is the UK,Europe, Australia
NTSC games start with SLUS, SCUS
PAL games start with SLES, SCES
JP games usually have SLPM
You can see that if you open the ISO image with ISObuster, or just through browsing the drive in 'My Computer'
You have a SCPH 70004, so your PS2 is PAL, so you can play the PAL games online that are still online.

I am sorry, but some questions came across my mind. I hope that you answer them and I hope that you have no problem with my too many asked questions.
First question:
What is that number which is typed near the SLES/SCES file? Also the DNAS IDs list contains such number. Well, does a game have more than number? and what happens if the number written next to the SLES was different from the one mentioned next to the ID, the game won't work online?
For example if I have SmackDown vs RAW 2006 and the game I have includes the file named "SLES_537.29" while the ID given in the list was "SLES_527.81", the game won't work online even after patching?
Second question:
Will the DNAS authenticating give me an error if the ID thing is fake or wasn't patched well~?
Third question:
Will the DNAS authenticating give me an error if the game is no longer online supported?
Fourth question:
Is there is any possibility to play a NTSC game online with a PAL PS2? or to play a PAL game online with NTSC game? even if I tried to patch PAL to NTSC or vice versa? if that is possible?

The whole number SLES_XXX.XX is the executable file of the game. It is what is launched when the game starts.
They are specific to each type of release of the game, whether it be Platinum release, Greatest Hits, etc.
Correct if the numbers don't match in the DNAS ID list, then it won't work online. You need to match it correctly.

Ok the "SLES_537.29" is for "Battlefield 2: Modern Combat"
http://www.ps3comp.com/view.asp?flt=b
The SLES_527.81 is for "SMACKDOWN vs RAW" released in '04

But still same answer, you need to have the proper DNAS ID for the game too work.

It may or may not give an error.
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/11354 - a list of errors if you do recieve one.

I think it will. I am not sure as I don't play online much. You can just check that wiki list to see if the game is still online.

No this is not possible, only if you change the ID of your PS2.
The tool was called Paradox Console ID changer, but I believe it was only good for FAT PS2, not slim
Any you took your own risk to do it

Hope that has helped you out a bit.

Indeed it did and I guess it is obvious that I can't change the number of the SLES file, so I just have to search for the ID of the number I have.
