Advice needed to config PCSX2 0.9.6 Emulator Controller

Hi. I have the PCSX2 0.9.6 emulator and I can't get it to play games. I have all the BIOS for it etc but can't get it to operate using my computer keyboard. Instructions that came with the Emu said that it is configured to play as is and can be used with a keyboard, but after the initial opening onscreen of the game being run from an .iso, there is no way that I can get it to start.
In the 'Configure' section, Game Pad 1 is set up to play and it looks like a flippin game console controller to me.
Game Pad 2 was full of blank spaces relevant t all the usual PS2 controller buttons and I assigned keyboard keys to the spaces. Still won't work.

Need advice on this one as Its doing everything but start the game play.

You will have to check what plugin the pad controller is using in order to use a keyboard.
