is this in any way shape or form possible? I mainly say because I dont want to install freemcboot for fear of anything. I have burnt a game before that was esr patched and when the ps2 boot up it went down that thing fast like it would the retail copy of the game but it went blank after that. same goes for imports that were copied->burnt. so im guessing if the patch were modified, it would work without the freemcboot anyways. any ideas?

Sorry, but if you don't have a soft or hard-modded ps2, then you can't play burned games.
For the ESR patched game to work, you have to have the ESR program on your memory card. And the only way to get that file on your memory card is through free mcboot, swap magic, or a mod chip.

does freemcboot overwrite the bios? or is it only while that specific memory card is plugged in?

Free McBooot is just on the specific memory card.
The Ps2 system checks for a system configuration file on your memory card every time you re-boot it. All free mcboot does is modify the system configuration file where the ps2 launches the free mcboot elf insted of settings.
(A .ELF is a ps2 bootable file, like .EXE for your computer)

so i could just use my memory card usb thing and put free mcboot on there and when the ps2 loads up it will look for that and if it finds freemcboot it turns into freemcboot and when i dont have that memory card in it loads just like normal?

Its a bit more complicated than that. The free mcboot installer has to get specific files from your specific model ps2. With those files it modifies the system config file.

If you have installed free mcboot to a memory card, when you have it plugged into the ps2 the ps2 is soft-modded.
When you don't have the memory card with free mcboot on it in your ps2, it will be a normal not soft-modded system.

If you would like help on installing free mcboot just ask.
But first we need to know what model your ps2 is. Is it a slim or a fat? Also include the model number on the bottom of the ps2. (mine is SCPH-70012 slim)

I have a 30000 fat one and a 90000 slim one. I do not have codebreaker, actionreplay, gameshark, etc. I do happen to have a usb memory card thing but I need a driver for it. I have read online that people have found/made drivers for the ps3 memory card adapter but I cannot find it. If I can find a driver then I would like help installing :).

You can't do it that way.
Although I do remember a program from a few years back called memento.
I think it is only compatable with the Memor32 memory card.
A regular memory card is only 8mb, the memor32 is 32mb.
You can google to see if it is possible, but I would suspect that there isn't much info out there anymore.

Even if you have the driver, you can't just install it to the memory card from your computer.

Your ps2 has to install it.
