I'm trying to extract audio from Ratchet and Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal. I've tried the programs people suggest, like PSound and MFAudio, but only PSound works and it has a major flaw; it doesn't get the real filenames of the sounds, and thus when extracting it overwrites every file over each other, thus me getting only one file at the end. Since there is 7000+ audio assets in the game, I'm not going to go ahead and extract everything manually.
I used Apache3 to generate a list of LBAs, but they didn't work; when I extracted the Hex Code using the list the individual files didn't sound correct...they just sounded like random bits of beeps, unlike what I heard when I used PSound. My guess is I either have a wrong starting address, a wrong size or I'm doing it wrong...
Anyways, I was hoping that it was a posibility that you could modify the TOCs so that, when I open it in Windows Explorer after virtually mounting the disk, all the files are visiable. I found THIS INFORMATION which talks about two TOCs on the disk, and copying the filelist from the real TOC to the fake one. Problem is my disk doesn't have ANY TOCs (or, from what I can remember from a long time ago, it has a list of the files that do appear twice, but the neither list have any hidden files listed).
This document HERE indicates how a VFS might be setup on the disc. I looked at all the files with a Hex Editor, and Notepad. No dice. Not a single file is listed, no filesizes, nothing. They only have some strings relating to network and the main executable.
Any help with this would be great; if all goes well I might buy some other protected discs and toy with them in such a way as to be able to unhide their files...
For reference, here is a list of steps I used and some information about the disc:
I used DVDDecrytper to make a copy of the disc. Open the disc with MagicIso, IsoBuster and UltraIso all don't work, and only show 219MBs of 4.15GBs. The executable file is SCES_524.56. It contains a demo of Sly 2, whose files count for about 199MBs (90% of that being in a .wal file). The disc is in PAL format. The disc is called "RATCHETANDCLANK3", created by "INSOMNIAC" and published by "SCEA".
I've also come across some interesting strings which I hope will have some meaning. These include:
"OSTA Compressed Unicode"
"*UDF FreeEASpace"
"\DEMOLOGO.NTST?.\INFOBOT2.PS*="
If I pull up any more, I will notify here. Please assist, and more-over, don't be negative. If you don't think it's possible, at least try to suggest other ways without saying "RECORD THE AUDIO FROM THE TV YO".
Ok, so I have found a good list of folders which have been hidden. What seems to happen is the .vag files (The audio files in this situation) have the folder located within them, meaning that VFS is actually scanning for these file directories. What might need to happen is manually renaming each file with the file path in the TOC at the top.
I was able to open PSound and looks for some strings, and I found them. However, the other strings have disappeared. I will looks for them and report results.
