So I'm working on getting Free Mcboot on a memory card, I need to get a game with an ELF that I can switch and stuff. I think I understand how to do all that. What I'm wondering is what applications I can use with FMCB. I know about ulE, ERS, and the ones that I can download with the Noobies pack from the PSX-scene website, but can I run emulators on FMCB? What are some of the better programs and how do I install them and run them? I'm a complete noob btw in case you couldn't tell...
Well, I guess I can give you a list of programs and what they do. Once you get Free McBoot on your memory card, I'll go into more detail about how to load them.
(all of these files are .ELFs)
Apps that I use:
1. uLaunchELF 4.41: just an updated ule than the noobie package
2. Codebreaker 10: I found this on ps3iso.com, it works just like the original Codebreaker disk
3. Simple Media System 2.9R4: just a more updated version than the noobie package
4. ESR: All this does is load copied games that have been patched (it tricks the ps2 into thinking that it is loading a DVD instead of a game)
game loaders that i use:
1. OpenPS2Loader 0.7: This can load games that have been put on a usb device with usbutil 2.0, or usbextreme. it can also load through SMB
2. USB Advance: I only use this for the games that don't work with OPL. (works the same way)
3.PS2ESDL (playstation 2 external storage device games loader): i actually havnt used this much, but some games that wont work with the first two work with this.
4. HD Loader: I actually dont use this because i have a slim ps2, but basically what you do is install a hard drive in your fat ps2 and load hd loader, format the hd, then put a game in the ps2 (while hdloader is up) and it will let you save it to the hard drive. Loading the games from the hard drive is probably the fastest way (only other comparison is SMB).
Emulators that i use:
1. SNES Station 0.2.4: this is an snes emulator. it runs most games full speed, the only downside is that it takes like 10 minutes to save or load. (you can load roms from MC, Flash drive, or CD)
2. FCEUltra 0.91: this is an nes emulator. It is the most stable one out there from what i've used. (it can also emulate famicom disk system roms if you have "disksys.rom") (it can load roms from MC, flash drive, or CD)
3. PS2InfoGB rev6a: The newest gameboy/gameboy color emulator on the ps2. the sound stinks but the games play well. (it can load roms from MC, flash drive, or CD)
4. Codejunkies Pgen: this sega genesis emulator was released with the EVO edition of Action replay max. It is flawless. (you can load roms from MC, flash drive, or CD)
5. PVCS 1.3: this is an atari 2600 emulator. i think it has been perfected (not that it would be difficult). the only downside to this is that you can only load roms from a folder in the MC1 slot.
Thats basically what homebrew I have on my ps2. I have a slim model SCPH-700012 with Free McBoot 1.8.
If you need any more information, feel free to ask.
Also, did you look at this site? It has a lot of ways to install Free McBoot on every ps2 model.
