Hey all, just found this link from Google. Not a lot of PS2 support for this sort of stuff anymore. Most of the links from HDAdvance's website are dead. Anyhow, my situation and question:
I have an unmodded SCPH-30001 which I used to use HDLoader (dunno the build, I ordered it and it showed up one day). I had a 100GB Maxtor drive hooked up to the NIC / modem attachment thingie, and everything worked wonderfully. So we've since moved. And the drive was detached. And I'm not sure where it went. And now I've got a Seagate 200GB still in its original package, and since nowadays you can get 2TB drives for dirt cheap, there's only one really good use for this drive, right?
I still have the HDLoader disk I bought, but I'd like to fully use the disk space on this new drive. Is there a way I can download and burn an HDAdvance or HDLoader disk to boot from, or will that absolutely require me to mod the PS2 (I didn't like the swap tricking methods)? Is there an app I can boot from USB to accomplish the same thing? Or do I need to find a site that still actually has HDAdvance 3.0 (all but two on HDAdvance's site are dead links, and of those two one doesn't even have their shopping cart working!).
Guessing since no one has responded, maybe my question was buried in the original post.
1. Is there a way I can download and burn an HDAdvance or HDLoader disk to boot from, or will that absolutely require me to hardware mod or swap-trick the PS2?
2. If not, is there an app I can install (FMCB?) that will boot up and play the games from my 200GB hard drive?
3. Failing those options, is my only recourse to find an original copy of HDAdvance 3.0?
to use the full space on the drive, just use winhiip to format it on your computer. install the games just like you have before and when you put in your hdloader disk the will work just like they did before.
yeah when it is formatted in the ps2 in only formats the first 120 gigs or so, but when you format your drive in your pc with winhiip it gives you the option of 24 bit which is the same as formatting with the ps2. the other option is 48 bit which allows your computer and the ps2 to see the whole drive. i had a 320 gb hard drive in mine and was able to use the whole drive until my computers drive crapped out and i didnt have money to buy a new one.
