HDLoader 3.8c vs. 0.8c

I'm currently using HDAdvance 2.0 but I would like to upgrade to a recent version of HDLoader.

Is HDLoader 3.8c (found here: http://www.hdloader.org/index.htm) just a pressed version of 0.8c or are they two different things? In addition to that, would it be possible to move an ISO of 3.8c onto the HDD with WinHIIP and just boot it with HDAdvance or is the exploit still required?
