I really am. No... really.
I have had so much fun with this console, and it's mostly the only console I new growing up, besides the PS1.
I have a 360, but dang, truthfully, nothing can compare to the PS2. It has tons of great games. The console is rock solid. It is truly the BEST console EVER made.
Ahh. I just got through playing it. I don't know what I'm gonna do.
I guess if you ever went down the road of repairing them you would have a very different opinion of the hundreds of different minor revisions and apparently random hardware changes. A pretty shoddy proprietary dvd drive with weak lasers...
I think we owe the ps1 the glory here. I bought mine 10 years ago used and it hasn't put a foot wrong. The device that changed the console gaming world because it had hundreds of awesome games. I know because at one time I had over 500 ps1 games, and still have about 100 of the ones I think were the best. They were £1 a shot by 2003.. so I bought them and tried them and the good ones I kept. Game lenghth is another consideration. I have been doing some retro gaming recently.. Deathtrap Dungeon.. been at it for about 6 days so far and reading a walkthrough online I'm only about 20% through.. must be 30 levels so far.
So I would say for the best console ever (yeah the saturn was technically superior and generally looked better) the award must go to the device that came from the sega/sony development partnership.
It's the ONLY sony thing in my house.. and that says it all.
I have a 'thing' for the PS2 as well, but regarding the repairing, I agree. My first console (70006 Japanese version) is busted, I still couldn't repair it!
As long as they sell, I'm sure they will keep making them.. And as long as the consoles are made, 3rd party game makers will continue making some games.. *thumbs up*
