So I had a working HDloader 0.7c setup, and had been transferring games from the PS2 DVDs. Everything worked.
Recently I tried to hook it up to my PC speed things up, right? Only when I did, the hard disk wouldn?t show up in My Computer. The drive was connected as slave and the Disk Management screen (part of Storage, under Computer Management) showed an unallocated hard drive sitting right where it should be.
I tried running Winhipp, to see if it could do anything for me. The repair tool, which I only used to scan, would come up with a ?list? of games but the whole thing would throw a, well
SCAN DRIVE ERROR The selected hard drive does not have a valid PS2 Master Boot Record.
sort of error when I tried to load it normally. When I put the drive back in my PS2, HDloader prompted me to format it.
I have yet to format the disk. Several of the games on there no longer run normally, and I am loath to download them for a variety of reasons. Is there some tool out there that can rebuild my boot record or save my files, and how do I avoid repeating this egregious error again?
EDIT: Never mind, life fixed itself in the most obvious way.
