questions about SCPH-90001 with MODBO 4.0 V1.99

1.is this model good (SCPH-90001 with MODBO 4.0 V1.99 ) or should i go for an older one , because i found model for cheap but i dont know anything about mod's

2. will this ps2 play files like .avi,.divx or mpeg

3.can i run emulators on it

i have a regular memory card not memor32 and i have a ext usb hd seagate 500gb ,fat32 partition ( i say fat cause ps3 wont pick up ntfs so i had to format to fat) if needed

is this a good system and chip if i get for around $170 brand new box only opened to install modchip thanks
