Soft Mod PS2??

I hav a Fat PS2 no mod chip, i was wondering if ther was a free way to soft-mod it or atleast be able to play burned games.

I got a torrent for code breaker and downloaded it but while it was downloading i realized it was useless cuz i would have to burn it on a dvd which my ps2 wudnt b able to read

search for freemcboot and you'll get some answers. Stmbled into a ps2 modding site by accident and soft modded 2 a fat and slim ps2 to play backups of really scratched games which originals will not read in ps2 drive

There's a swap trick you can do. It's a pain to work with but I managed to pull it off 8 years back. I can't remember exactly what I did but it's goes a little something like this. It does involve opening up your PS2.

Disassemble your PS2 and completely remove the PS2 case and the top cover of the disc drive, leaving the laser and disc tray expose. Choose a PS2 backup of your choice and find an original pressed PS2 game with almost the same size TOC. Power on the PS2 and boot up the original PS2 disc. (This is the tricky part) While it's loading (black screen) quickly swap out the original with the backup (remember to use the magnet to hold the disc in place or else it will spin out of control). There's a few second delay before the swap but I can't remember how much (it's been too long, it may be between 3-7 second???). If swap and TOC loaded successful, the screen will roll once and then again a few seconds later. There may be some sensors that you have to block also. I can't remember how many there is or where it's located. But hey, if you want a completely free way to do it, this is it. It's a little old school and is what eventually leaded to and became known now as Swap Magic.
