Okay, so... I already killed a ps2 by using poor DVD media, however... it was a V10, so it suffers from that problem you need the "Romeo Mod" to fix.

My question is... I have a new ps2 now, SCPH 90001, Date Code 8D... Swap Magic boots up fine and stuff, BUT - How much is my laser at risk? I really don't want to have ANOTHER laser burn out like that on me... The media I currently have are Fujifilm DVD-Rs, how good are those?

Unfortunately, I don't have the experience to tell you how good that brand is, or how apt that PS2 version is to fail. However, if you want to keep your lens from going out, your best bet is to use Verbatim discs. Personally, I use Memorex, which isn't QUITE as good, but a lot better than most of the other crap brands.

If you want more information, do some research on disc reflectivity.

Alright, I have some Verbatim discs now... Are there any signs that will let me know that the laser isn't doing good?
