Hi folks! This is sort of a last hope thread, i've searched dozens of sites now and didn't find a clue on how to solve this. I'm trying to use Xploder's HDTV Loader on my modded PALPS2. DMS3 modchip. I've tried every possible method to boot HDTV Loader, pressing X for loading ps2, pressing [] to turn off the modchip, everytime HDTV Loader tells me to insert the game disk it opens a screen [Starting Game...] and then..nothing happens. Before you ask, i try this with a 100% original and legally bought NTSC Version of Star ocean 3 which is supposed to support 480p. I've tried other games to no other avail, everytime it stops on this screen. I've read in other forums that there are indeed problems when using the HDTV Loader with modded ps2's, what a bad joke. I've read in a very doubtful source that someone has gotten the whole problem solved by loading an .elf of HDTV Explorer from somewhere (he doesn't state if he uses memcard or HDD) while having the game inserted he wants to play so the game is "logged in" (??) before starting HDTV EXplorer and then it worked. Thing is i don't have a HD drive and i'm not planning to invest one and then i can only load .elf programs that are compatible with my dms Explorer and even then it's very complicated even for an experienced user, i tried to install an .elf before and it didn't really work out. Is there someone who experienced the same problems and has it fixed? Is there a 100% sure way to install this HDTV Loader as an .elf onto a memcard with DMS Explorer, does this even solve the problem? I really hope some kind person out there could give me any help.
You can make your DMS load the freemcboot installer. You can then either add the ELF to the list of programs in the freemcboot menu, or you can use uLaunchELF to start it. You don't need a hard drive; you can store most ELF files on a memory card, can both freemcboot and uLaunchELF support launching ELF files from USB flash drives (you can get these super-cheap if you don't already have one).
Unless your PS2 is a late model that is incompatable with freemcboot, I recomend it over anything, even the top-end DMS chip. A while back, I made a freemcboot card for a friend that had a DMS4-pro or whatever (he paid $100 installed). After he tried it for a while, he had me come back over and clip off the wires for the modchip...it just was not as good as freemcboot!
