i tired changing the ports 1&2 from my other xbox and it still does not work, but ports 2,3, & 4 still do. what would be causing this and what can i do to fix it

check the pins to the port on the mobo .. They are standard usb connections.. red is +5v and black is +-ground. could well be that the actual controller on the mobo has died.. uncommon but it can happen. Only seen it once in over 2500 boxes repaired. That's the most likely unless you have ripped a track or something. If it's not obvious what has gone wrong (bent pin in socket on mobo-torn trace underneath) then it's not repairable.
