Hi guys

Just moved into a new property and am wondering if it is worth buying either a Starview 2 or a Kryptview A750.Im in Greenock which should come under GLasgow area and everyone I know that has a Eurovox is still up n running ok.

House Im in has a NTL feed and Sky dish with wires coming in. I took advantage of that Simplify Digital offer thats on, Virgin Broadband and phone line and get £125 cheque cashback so waiting for install date for that but as it stands I have here a Pace box with Atmega 163 card but its not been used for a while and if they still work needs the card programmed, I also have an old chipped analog box (N*L) which as I was led to believe are still working but when I connected it I got no picture even tho the box behaved as it should ie go staight to ch 02 and skips BBC1 until it receives a feed so I presume the analog signal is switched off, but is there a flash to get a Pace with Funcard going?

Or back to the original question should I buy a Starview 2 or Kryptview A750 now and expect them to work?? For whatever reason all Eurovoxes I know off are stil going fine here despite me readong n last week that Nagra 3 had hit here?

Much appreciate any help guys cheers

I picked up a Dreambox 500C the other day its got holograph sticker on bottom and has an image on it. Will i be able to get this up and running but have no idea what i'm doing with it. when turn box on the name of whatever flashfile or image appears then if i go to channals the names are there but screen is black.

Anyone know if its worth keeping or will it go down too

paul if you have a sky dish and you will have broadband soon why not invest another £50 and get a clone dm500s and have a go at cs. you can get a lot of info in this in the last 2 links in my signature area . the dm500c may be able to be used along the same lines sometime in the future.

Thx guys for ur help I also picked up a DBOX2 last night off a m8 to try but havent even tried it yet,

What was interesting tho was my m8 whose used a Pace with Atmega for years but its been down since February, he said he got it up n running again last night, every channel. H?ad tried all sorts when it went down but it was only a text but he said he got it running again after 2 days, well a while on mon night and a while last night and it is now up n running so hes gonna update mine and Ill try that.

I will read the links in ur sig piopat and try to find what I can do with the dbox and if I have the right image on it although it was left behind by a guy who moved out of a flat 2 doors along so Id think it would be unless its not been done for a while.

Right now Im staying at another house this week which has a working Eurovox in one room tho a few channels have went off but hardly any. The main one I noticed last night was s*y sports 2 as the Ch League game was on it and couldnt get it but sports 1,3 & news etc are still there.

The other room has a subbed Virg box in it and I have the Dreambox 500C and also the DBOX 2 here. I have tried the Dreambox but get the resuls I posted reviously from my own house but if I was to connect it is there a routine I should follow to set it up. I have read a few threads but have been out of this game for years as I always had chipped analog or Pace atmmega so any help is greatly appreciated guys and thanks for replies

what i said was a dm500c may be able to be used in the future as it has a lan connection(so its worth keeping it )at this point only starview 6 and now the kryptview box are capable of cable cs (you will need an i connector for the kryptview) as far as i know there is no difference between genuine and clone dreamboxes when it comes to cs .

absolutely true piopat. the current game is based on c/s using a particular box type. so starview and kryptview now have c/s servers. as mooley said some time back about not dumping his 500c its highly likely that a similar solution will become available for dreambox in time. for the individual to setup a c/s on dreambox is not impossible but requires some extra equipment which adds cost. hence it has not really taken off
