@gerrard08...they have your personal and wholly identifiable MAC address which is unique throughout planet earth attached directly to your name, address, bank account and a host of 'specially selected 3rd party affiliate companies'.. It's what they use to direct your signal to your house AND to generate their automated monthly bills.
While no one condones the possible viewing of channels which contractually you may be obliged to pay for/watch free on YouTube or remember from the early 1990's (if you're as old as I am..!).. then the authorities have quite a busy workload catching violent offenders and the like just now - especially during these financially difficult times.
Trade stats indicate that 95%+ of those who do have any contact from the authorities tend to be loud, irritating, mad dog owning pests.. who happen to also have a set top box.
It's healthy to appreciate any possible risk, but unless you 'are that irritating nutter - everyone hates and has reason to complain about'.. chances are, you'll not be rocking any major boats.
Just my take on the overall situation.

sb---- if you have an active line it will work until it is no longer active. when you connect to a share then the share defines start and end time. new lines will always work, but the server controls all aspects of the communication so that new line will also end at a defined date. so once you have a new cline when required then you are ok. and do remember that line can never be shared with friends (unless it is allowed). you will never be allowed to use two boxes with same cline information. cams do not allow this

well....i was thinking of purchasing the sat box and cs/line from a supplier locally based in cash...up front payment for a whole year perhaps...that way theres no need for direct debit setup etc.

It might be a bit more expensive to do it that way, but if you can trust the guy you are going to buy it off then it might be the best way to do it.
I would suggest that you get a sub for no more than 3 mths, and then that way if it goes belly-up you are not too much out of pocket. If you pay for a years sub and it goes belly-up after a month or 2 it could be costly.

A lot of people just buy the unit, then someone who's punting out decent lines. Nothing wrong in owning a nice satellite box.
..and there's not many line sellers who want to take direct debit payment I'd imagine! ;)

Grabbed from another forum...
--------------------
The Blade is definitely 'cutting edge'.. full 1080P, stunning picture quality and you can sort out everything you need via USB, (good old Null Modem..if you've got time) or via Web Update..
CA's unofficial user guide for new users is here - which covered all the basic info I needed.
Cheers :)
PS.. if you are wanting the latest channel layouts for your area (I believe they'll all be there soon).. just go into the menu/IP Settings (press OK), blue for firmware update - then Blue again for edit the update server.. overtype the 000.000.000.000 with blademedia.serveftp.com and save.
When you go back in, press OK and you'll see a list of channel lists pre-setup .. choose the freeview S*y UK and choose from the London (or newer Mark 1) or other areas to suit.. 10 seconds later - check your Groups button/Entertainment section. It should all be neatly organised for you.
And.. if you ain't running V1.19b (Menu/Installation/System Info) - then you should be.. check the guide link above.. it makes one hell of a difference.
Congrats to Blade for this box - this is genuine New Technology and not some re-hash of an older box. A1 - Thanks!!
-------------
Hope it helps :)

10 per month??? I think I must be getting ripped off so!!
Whatever you say, say nothing when you talk about you know what for if you know who might hear you, you know what youll get. Youll be sent off to you know where for you would not know how long. Maybe I could search through the threads so you dont have to ??

does this work? icant seem to get it to work, taken from the official blade web site
www.blademedia.tv, any help would be gratefull.
To perform multi-record, it is recommended that you use a fast USB storage device eg. USB2.0 Hard Drive. USB flash sticks may not give good performance, will be slow interacting, may make the box unstable or may not work at all, but you can try it.
To multi-record, press OK to show Channel List..... Press REC button on remote to start recording.... go to another channel on the same transponder.... press REC again (you may get "Record Full" message if USB is busy or slow, just try it again after a few seconds).... You now have two channels recording and you can now select a third channel on the same transponder to watch.

Sorry for time lag replying to post. Have tried this feature on diff.box some time ago &
it did not seem to work. Didn't spend much time trying to sort it as was only curious.
Check your USB-2 on single-record, to make sure it's formatted to fat-32. Hi-Tech is the
man to advise on Blade issues

thank you gerrad08 for your reply.
i have sorted it now, it was simply the case of the blade box having only one tuner card, and it can only record two channels from one transponder at a time, so by selecting the red sort button and selecting tp, it will then show what channels are on that transponder,so you have watch a channel on the same trasponderif try to move off it will ask you if you want stop recording, the only other niggling thing is you can`t put the box into standby mode or it lose all the epg,

No box should lose EPG when in stand-by. I will ask Hi-Tech, usually come across him on
other forums

You're some nuisance, I'll come back to you with it
Hi sb18180
please excuse me for my ignorance, i am fairly new to using the Blade Box.
I wonder if you had an up to date .CNDF Channel data file (exactly the same as sky). i.e 101 BBC 1, 102 BBC 2 e.t.c
I have just done a Blade online update, and yes it has grouped them successfully, but i really would like to have the channels in sync with the original Sky layout.
I would really appreciate some feedback.
Thanks in advance... (,")
