just looking at signal strength now.....
level 88%
quality 65%

the quality varies from about 63 - 68
is this strong enough or should i keep trying moving the aerial about?

guys as i am living along the atlantic coast my aerial has experienced some force 10 storms and driving rain, and i can honestly say i dont have those problems.youre aerial must have a clear sight of the transmitter(no trees ,chimneys etc.)when you say rain affects it worse there may be a chance that rain is getting in to the downconverter i wouldnt bet on it though cause they are quiet sturdy,
coupe can you borrow a good woking converter and a reliable 24 volt power supply ,just might save you a few bob in the long run
best of luck/jack.............

coupe have you checked aerial lead connection to downconverter to make sure no moisture is getting through you really need a good seal there.
