Hi lads.Just bought a fta dish and box from power shitty as a pack.It was for my granda as he only has 3 channels.I hung the dish up tonight and ran a coax cable from the dish to the box but when i tried to scan i was getting nothing at all.i was scanning on the astra 2 satilite.The was also a thing that said nit on/off tried it on both of them.still nothing.any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the dish aligned correctly?
Did you use a sat finder and are you sure its Astra2 your pointing at, astra1,2and hotbird are all mm's off

im not 100% sure.i went off where the neighbour had his pointed.i did use a sat finder just showed up full signal but doesnt tell me what satilite i was pointing at do.should i not pick something up do?

It sounds like you're on Astra 1. You need to turn a bit.
It seems like channels aren't clearing for you on that freesat box. But if you change the direction to astra 2 you will get something.

you can't just line a dish up from your neighbours a few mm's in any direction will loose your signal

Do you know how to use a sat finder correctly?

No problem,
An old sky box can help to check if your on asta2 or not go to the signal test menu

No probs, had a feeling you were doing it wrong when ya said 'i did use a sat finder just showed up full signal'
Its actually fairly easy to setup a satellite dish once you've done it once
