have a look at the picture and the guide for flashing the box from a laptop,
cant help you on the laptop set up,never flashed a box on a laptop befour,

one of the other guys on the forum should be able to confirm if this cable will work with the laptop.

you would be better of finding someone with an old pc with xp and serial port as many others have run into problems with usb adapters and drivers etc.looking at that link it looks like a serial cable which is wired straight,a null modem cable has a cross over wire for flashing.

all my mates have lap tops so i will have to use my lap top. pls how can i install the drivers.im using a laptop and iv ordered a ''USB 2.0 to RS232 Serial DB-9 Pin Female Video Game Graphic PC Adaptor Cable'' ..

when you flash the the box with the firmware,connect the box to the internet, on the remote control press. menu.system information s/w update. then let the box update,
this will put the latest firmware on the box which is 29/11/2011


when i connect to put the firmware on the box it says CANT OPEN SERIAL PORTCOM1. IM USING THE USB SERIAL PORT ON MY LAPTOP.. ANY HELP PLEASE? DO I HAVE TO INSTALL A CERTAIN DRIVE?

on the loader it gives you 4 choices of com ports to use,are you using a null modem cable and usb adapter? dont think the graphic pc adapter cable is right.

i have tried several times but its still not working..iv had my kryptview for a week now and still struggling.. iv also got 9pin Serial RS232 Null Modem Cable:

did you look at the video??box has to be powered off first at rear then press download and power on.

i done a automatic serch at first and that never picked the channel up
i then done a factory default and got the channel that way.

it might be on a new tp that box does not know,having done a default and rescan from direct feed should pick it up.
