no idea what a multibox is but assume he is subscribed to virgin or the like. if so you need to continue the subscription to use the box

as fintann said your mate would need to pay a subscription for the cable channels and also he would need to be paying for multi room (that is adding a second box to a subscription ) and you would need a cable connection also . if he is paying for channels on both boxes and you you have a cable connection then the answer is yes. the exception here would be if your mates boxes were getting the channels via an mmds aerial as you would then need an mmds aerial also as this works differently to ordinary cable ,and of course you must have the same cable provider (if you live in the same area you should be ok ).

yes it works, once your mate and you pay the bill and your in the same network area, so if he is in CW area and your in a old nthell area, then no, has to be in the same network area, loads of folk do it to cut the cost

well for example, if he pays say 50 punds for all chans + 5 quid for the extra box, thats 55 a month, that works out at say 27 quid approx each, half the price, worth looking at and no worries of it going off either

Does this also work, with sly if someone in your family subscribes to multiroom, can you have the additional box and viewing card in your house to view the channels ??

yes ,of course you need a dish pointed at the sky sat .i think (i could be wrong here )that sky used to only give the basic channels on box 2 (no movies or sports ) i think you get all channels now. the only potential snag i can see is if the person subscribing has to connect up their box/boxes to their phone line as part of their contract (again this was the norm a few years back ,but im not sure if its still the case )box 2 would then have to be connected to your phone line (if no phone lines have to be connected you have no worries) i would say yes it will work fine .

Okay thanks, yh i was doing some reaserch and read both boxes have to be connected to the same phone line in the main house. Although sky only check this once a month normally around the date you had it installed, so you can just take your box back and plug it in for this and then use it again.

i dont know how stringent sky would be with the phone line rule , maybe the one box will be good enough to satisfy their computer (it speaks to your box and your box sends back info)and hopefully it wont miss your box with a bit of luck.

Apparently they are quite strict on it because of people using second boxes in different houses, but we dont want to subscribe as we only watch the football when its on so was just going to leave the box at the other peoples house and just plug in when we wanted to use it, not connecting the phone line.
