No it wont affect starview channels if you put new card into virmin box, but as you know you wont have a working starview much longer.

Sure is Kingp1, if you want to keep watching get yourself a Kryptview 780 or starview 6, you will need broadband for these boxes though.

Basically these boxes work more or less the same way as older boxes but they need to be connected to the internet to update the keys, the box is connected to a router by ethernet cable and channels are cleared that way. There is a load of info regarding these boxes on site, and if you need help setting one up all you have to do is ask and someone will help you through setup.

as soon as you get your new card in the post ya get approx 4/5 weeks viewing after that anything is a bonus BUT once you start losing channels your time is numbered and your starview boxes will die with no fixes for them

I've had my new card in the box for a month now, I lost some channels earlier and i thought the switch over was happening, but those lost channels came back. I lost sk* sports 1 and thought surely now its switching to N3, but got the channels back after rescan on SV1. Someone was telling me that In my area in NW London the switching over to N3 caused loss of channels on legal VMedia channels, so They not switching over until christmas. Thank god.

Reopening this thread to ask about whether there is anything one should do with these cards?

Had to call the provider recently and got an automated message saying that I wasn't using the new card yet and would start to lose my channels soon. Wasn't worried too much about losing them as I was watching through a A780.

However, was worried that they knew I wasn't using the card. Wondered whether I should split the signal and hook the old box up or just set up the old box for a short period of time to follow whatever procedure you have to do to activate the card?
