called streaming and you wont get anything for free unless you use SOPCAST

here is a link to an older thread that has lots of info to help you view tv channels from your pc on your tv .

your pc will need to have either an svideo connection or a vga connection or a hdmi connection and the tv will need to have the same connection .svideo and vga connections only give video and no audio so a second cable is required for the audio ,a hdmi connection should give you both audio and video .

so if your pc has a hdmi output (and your tv has a hdmi input ) you only need one cable a hdmi cable ,if your pc only has an svideo output (and your tv has an svideo input )you will need an svideo cable for video and phono to phono cable for audio ,if your pc only has a vga output (and your tv has a vga input )you will need a vga cable for video and a phono to phono cable for the audio .

as mick said what you are talking about are streams (channels streamed over the internet)you can watch a lot online but dont expect to get all the sky channels . you can watch most football games and you can watch movies that are in the cinema etc and you can view streams from some sky channels ,but because they are streams they may not be on 24 hours a day and can be prone to freezing ,and while picture quality of some streams can be excellent other streams can be poor .

so you need to check your pc (to see what connections it has ) and do likewise with your tv ,a lot of lcd tvs come with a vga connection its a 15 pin female connection .have a read of the posts on the link above and you will see lots of info and links .
