Hi all,
I guess this has probably been asked about in the past so i apologise in advance but I'm basically trying to get some sort of sat system (fixed or motorised) that will enable me to pick up feeds to allow me to get premier league matches that aren't televised in the UK, like the pubs show on saturdays and weds etc. I'm fed up spending ages searching through the net for streaming sites only for them to not work or crash every 10mins and put virus on my pc.
Can you fill me in on the equipment that I'll need and if subs will be needed to be paid, I already pay full subs for the shy sports so only really interested in matches not available on shy. Have a friend who claims her dad has this type of set up ie. motorised dish and some sort of receiver and he watches all matches without any monthly or yearly fee. He also has full shy hd package and watches other games on this. His has been working for yrs without any probs.

thanks in advance for any advice

These guys sell the pub subscription cards, don;t think they are dodgy, your paying the full price, isn;t cheap about 1000euro or more but you;d get everything just like the pubs I understand. Won;t have any idea about dish's etc as it was a bit too pricey for me to bother looking into it anymore..

cheers guys, I was hoping it was just a matter of point sat if different directions for different countries and hey presto but looks more complicated than that. might just be better to head down to the pub. Friends dad set up was expensive, think it was a 3-4 hundred for sat and 3-4 hundred for box.

You can get a full motorised DIY kit on ebay for about £115 and check out protek 9600ip or spiderbox or similar. Google is your friend there mate.

Please, please, please use the search box at top right of site before asking a question that has already been answered.

cheers thats great, just checked with friend and it is the nanoxx 9600 ip, do you know if these work similar to the dreambox, I'm not interested in getting shy sports 1 etc just stations showing matches that aren't available in the uk. Is there any reason to op for a dreambox rather than the nanoxx 9600 ip?

thanks again

do the dreambox and nanoxx work pretty much the same way in terms of updating, automatic or manual? will the dreambox work for the german/Spanish stations etc that you can pick up using the nanoxx without paying a sub or do u have to pay a cs sub with the dreambox to get these stations, I know the friends dad doesn't pay anything at all but doesn't get shy channels (which I don't need anyway) . In the worst case senerio with both boxes work as fta boxes if cs is stopped and foreign channels all become encrypted. Thinking about just taking a chance an if I cannt sort it out at least I'll have fta stations
thanks again

Cheers guys I'll maybe give this a go and see, I used to use footydoctor but it started putting pop ups all over my pc, do you need to reg with the myp2p.eu site? If this doesn't work I think I'll do down the route of the nanoxx 9600ip but if myp2p.eu works out it'll save me roughly £250
thanks

Well, to cut a long story short, dont use webbased players, load yer PC with crap and virus's, SOPCAST is a stand alone player, which is far and above any of the others, go to myp2p, you will see a list of games, in english and also using SOPCAST as the player, anything above 500kbps will look good on yer TV, also change yer setting in SOPCAST, when you select your stream and its loading in SOPCAST, right click in the middle of the sopcast screen, choose options and then buffer, change this to 30 seconds and that it save, cuts out the stopping and spluttering and any game that is on there, us SOPCAST as your choice of player.

The Dreambox works slightly differently to the nanoxx/protek. You will need to read up on the dreambox in detail to get good usage out of it. The 9600 is not HD but there is the 9700 HD which gets the same packages as 9600 plus HD channels of course. Spider is HD. Both spider and nanoxx/protek are the easiest boxes I have ever come across to set up and most of the time are plug in and away you go. Updates are done automatically via network. All the boxes mentioned work with FTA if your network goes down or the support. Personally I wouldn't go with spider, due to the person that supports it (not through any past dealings I have had with him but by what everyone else has commented on his past ventures!) but thats just me.
As mickah has said though if it's just footy your after sopcast usually does the trick. I have none of these boxes but have 3 proteks set up for friends and g/f and never had a problem. Excellent value considering there is never any money to be paid after you get the box and they refuse to take donations or anything on support site. Excellent support. Again thats just my opinion and I'm sure there are some out there that disagree.

totally agree lads been using myp2p and sopcast since last season and most games are super quality
without any freezing and played thruogh the tv - better than paying subs for s*y sports anyway.

will be doing the same this season and hopefully they might improve kbps but no complaints if they dont.

I'm assuming that the protek you fitted works on a motorised dish, does it take much technially ability to postion the sat dish or is it just a matter of putting it in the same place as my old fixed sky dish and it automatically moves to the correct sat when trying to access a specific channel?
Like the idea of streaming due to the cost but fancy the idea of the nanoxx with the motorised dish too, might treat myself anyway!
Is there a way or does anyone know the likely channels I'll get through the nanoxx
cheers

You mount the dish pointing due south and once you get a good signal on 0.8W (thor), using usals on the box the dish and box will find the rest. There are some very good guides and tutorials all over the net that will guide you through it. Half the fun is installing yourself and getting it working!! Sending you a pm.

@ hooter, yeah had a look at that site you mentioned, wonder how long it will last though by openly displaying sly on it, the pic quality is not bad I have to say, but when blown up on a TV, doesnt look the mae west, great on the PC and lappy mind, Just on the SOPCAST thing on the TV, mess about with yer settings on the lappy also, in the Properties (middle of desktop, right click and then properties, then settings) when you connect a lappy to the TV, you can higher the resolution of the lappy and its refresh rate a lot higher when connected to your TV, mine is set a 85htz refresh and I use a setting of 1400 x 1050 as my res and there is a big difference in quality on the TV (properties, then settings, then the advanced tab and then Monitor) small bit of tweaking and big improvement. SOPCAST also keep a record of the chans you watch in the drop down tab, more often than not those will be the same streams you will use week in and out for games
