Right..... Long answer! We'll take it bit by bit.
You can get a satellite to do four rooms yes but you can only use a fixed satellite for four rooms as if you got a motorised only one room with one box has control over it. So you would get a fixed sat on astra 2 with a quad LNB (Octo LNB if you intend to use a PVR box in any room) to give you freesat and then each room would require a freesat box. You could have a quad LNB with 3 freeview boxes in the other rooms and one dreambox in the sitting room for other uses which you'll have to read up on here on 'Shy Channels with Dreambox' thread. If you wanted to kit out each room with Digital Satellite TV with no sports you just stick up a sat on astra 2 with a quad LNB and stick a freesat box in each room.

Each room can watch whatever they like once you have a box each room. If your looking at the sports you need to look into the thread I mentioned or look into IKS. Google is your friend there as we cannot speak about that here.

no kryptview is a cable box you need a sat box and dish.
yes main feed into splitter one feeds ntl box other feeds kryptview, but you will need 2 scarts connected one on each box.
you may get freezing on krypt depends on signal strength.

On a similar note, could SV/EV/KV etc... possibly be used in some way on Irish DTT by way of a software update?

nope these boxs are now defunct, cant work in anyway without a fix for n3, not even FTA, they can only be updated via software update from the guys who do em. Think its time for folk to realize, these boxs are now gone and cant be used or updated in any other way than they were designed to. time to get FTA, share subs on cable or go to sky for the time being.
