Have recorded a show onto USB and want to replay back on the computer .. what media player/codec/etc combination is suggested?

Have recently downloaded VLC but when tried to play back a recorded programme a warning box came up saying ...

you need to convert the .ts file to AVI, there are a load convertors online that will do it for you

Hi.
Here is a step by step tutorial for converting .ts to .avi

1.Connect the drive where the file is recorded onto via usb.

2.Get a free avi video converter.
I highly recommend Format Factory(I use this with my starview 4).

3.Open Format Factory and select Convert to .avi

4.Using Format Factory, import the file from your usb drive.

5. Wait for conversion to be completed and enjoy.

Note: With Format Factory you can convert the .ts file to nearly any video format if required.

You could also avoid all that time and effort by installing Gom Player on your pc and watching the sv's .ts files on that.
