hi, hope somebody can help. im wondering if there is a firmware for starview 1? im aware that all the premium channells such as the sports and movies ect cant be got anymore but id be happy just to get my normal channels succh as rte 2,channel 4 ect.. im on ntl in ireland but the picture quality is just desperate via the ntl cable alone in the back of the tv which is why im hoping just to get the normal channels back via the starview 1 box. iv read forums inside out and have tried but goin off my head!

run the ntl in to the starview box using the coaxial cable and run a cable from the starview to coaxial socket on the tv - get rid of the scart cable and leave the starview plugged in.
I think that should give you better picture than runnubg the ntl directly to the tv

if you just want the basic channels why don't you just subscribe to the basic digital service.
basic digital is actually cheaper then analogue and you get to use the analogue too if you still need it, so basically they are giving you a free digibox and lowering the monthly cost.
http://www.upc.ie/deals/made_to_measure/
Digital value (any live cable line includes analogue) = 20 euros
Analogue on its own = 24.50

and thats the bottom line cos stone cold said so,lol
but yes they are doing digital for less now actually if you pay 24-25
you get around lets say 70 extra channels not exact
also if you do decide to go digital while you are waiting for your box as said above connect your starview through your cable and then get a male to female coaxal lead and put that from your box to tv

yes but your doggy box will still only get what channels you already have on it, if you have any, some or all.
also if you have all channels why go digital when you are already getting it through your box!

Subscribing to digital has no effect on dodgy boxes.
Your dodgy box will work the same as it did before.

support for the SV1 has stopped a long time ago, so I really doubt a fix will be coming if the SV1 needs it

I could be and possibly am wrong - but with sky the digital box was what "unscrambled" the channel, therefore you could look at the same channel ONLY in all the rooms. I think NTL will do the same??
