I have got a new card in the post from the U*C.
Should I switch the card as I am told or hold off until my U*C goes? What is everybody elese in Ireland doing?

just stick the cards in ive both u=c and starview connected to my tv so if i wanna record on starview usb can still watch other channels on u=c

Mate has a UPC PVR box and got a letter today to say a new card would be posted to him in the next few weeks and to swap it and recordings would be uninterrupted, Dunno why they bother sending a letter 1st. Puzzled??
PLEASE DONT PM ME FOR KEYS!

its all to do with the change over to nag 3, also i have heard why we arent on nag3 right now, is because they are having problems with the u*c pvr boxes on there new encryption?? it wes a tech guy who works for them told me,

got one of those letters aswell in the post yesterday puzzled me aswell! why send a letter saying they will be sending out a new card in a couple of weeks! im on mmds with the basic package

Switch the cards if you get a new one.
What good is there in waiting?
Switching the card in your UPC box is not going to effect your starview working or not.

Yes but they were Nagra 2 ROM 110 AO5 and updated A07 for the first batch on the standard boxes. However the latest batch been released are indeed Nagra 3 ROM 142.

I got my cards a few weeks ago and upgraded. I am on the basic digital MMDS package. It had no effect on my Kview box, so no real reason not to upgrade. Just on a short note, I heard from someone in NTL that they are switching over to Nagra3 exclusively in September. Now I know that it may just be hearsay but he is fairly reliable. Just passing on the info.

Maybe so! But at the rate there sending N3 cards out to people with premiums subs would say they will knock the premiums off a lot sooner then that.

Recieved one of those letters today saying that in a few weeks U*C will be sending out new cards, I also sub to the cheapest package ?20 per month, BTW I only have a sub to them since end of Feb this year so really my card should already be a N3 card, shouldn't it, or are they just doing this the wrong way round.

I subscribed to the ?20 package in Dec 08 and didn't get any letter or new card.

They were issuing N2 cards up until mid June as there was a firmware issue with there new STBs handling the N3 cards but that issue has been resolved now hence them issuing the new N3 cards for all there STBs
