Hi guys ive took the plunge for the sat options over the kv/sv..

Im just curious, which HD box would you all recommend?

Ive looked at DM800 and Technomate (unsure which model) and Vu Duo+

Vu Duo+ seems great with all the options it has available.. although the price tag is quite expensive..

anyone recommend a box which can produce good quality hd viewing and most stable (in your opinion of course)

i wouldnt like to purchase a box that freezes all the time!

cheers guys! mike

xbox360 (LT+ 2.0) - revo r3610 (xbmc 11) - vu+ duo - 2x skybox f3

its called 333g(triple g)
its stable and good.

Fintannl, these two deserve each other, let them at it, and don't even waste any more of your time with either of them

Whatever you say, say nothing when you talk about you know what for if you know who might hear you, you know what youll get. Youll be sent off to you know where for you would not know how long. Maybe I could search through the threads so you dont have to ??

here what you say. always interested in hearing of a new programmable linux box that could be a quality solution. assume none of the boxes suggested have any worthwhile programmability whatsoever and probably crap tuners. get what your saying

alright guys,

a few weeks ago i was comparing the 4 boxes u have mentioned, but i wanted HD and sometihng cheap, the duo is abt£275, so i went for the openbox HD, and honestly its amazing! get HD is so impressive i cannot believe its this good, it also runs CCam very stable, i thort id get it and sell it on if it didnt work, i was a comlete noob, i spent 4 weeks reading forums, and was stuck between the tm 800 and vuo solo, but then someone mentioned openbox HD, and if u want to use it to watch tv, then this is perfect, for £100 u cant go wrong, i fully recomend it, the only downside is it has now and next epg, but this might be resolved with future firmware upgrades

zoomaj, what you say is a huge issue and is the difference between the popular boxes versus those that have not made the grade. the vu+ using the vix image has a 7 day program guide with cross epg which is just stunning. and i know what you say about hd being important, likewise is program guide. that being said sounds like a good budget hd box

yup basically the top boxes have better support and also some play avi. mkv files, also the epg is better, also probably better recording options, apart from that i think u are really paying for the brand, i was going to buy a Vu solo HD becuase the way to look at it is you only buy a box once, so make sure it was a good one, my budget was abt £300, but then on another forum there is a dedicted thread for this openbox, so i asked lots of questions there and took the plunge, i too hav come from cable and starview, got the skky dish installed 3 weeks ago, and today watching HD on the openbox, it runs ccam which is what is the key feature, most SD boxes cost abt the £100 like the tm600 etc, this box also records to a usb stick in full 1080, so far i cannot fault it had it a week,

open box iv used and am still using....for money spent, its a brilliant cheap hd box...well recommend it,although its the same as a skybox hd....just be sure you get a gd un....as for the 333g...its very new,and although iv trialled it over the past few months, its dearer than the open box but you get youtube streaming built in!its the same as the class hd boxes...
both boxes are great for cs...but openbox is my personal choice..

sounds good, have spent much money on many different boxes and the one consistent issue is that the tuner simply cannot supply 1080i hd. while you may have 1080p tv, 1080i is what is delivered from sat system. congrats for finding good solution for cheap price. have never had such luck. even sky thompson box at euro400 has rubbish tuners. astounding to find a box for less than 100 that can deliver what sky has strived to do for years. excuse me if i sound somewhat disbelieving

how is someone supposed to know what is a good one or a bad one. either it is a good solid box built by a reputable supplier or it is just another one of these clone boxes that are more torture than they are worth. there tends to be no middle ground

This thread itself would be a prime example, you say you are looking at this box and that box etc. etc. and then you post another thread saying you have a different box altogether:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-59/setting_up_dish_to_receive_freeview_from_astra_28_2-dish_help-872472/

and 2 days before you started this thread, you started one asking about a HD Kryptview

http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-59/when_is_kv_hd_coming_-871494/

and of course this one with 'if i was to buy this........blah blah blab'

Just a waste of time replying to any of your threads.

Whatever you say, say nothing when you talk about you know what for if you know who might hear you, you know what youll get. Youll be sent off to you know where for you would not know how long. Maybe I could search through the threads so you dont have to ??

(you forgot to mention)
any lan and using a switch threas: asked a question, got an answer, purchased, moved on..

kryptview thread: asked a question, got an answer, did more research, moved on..

hd sat thread: asked a question, got good information, purchased over kryptview, moved on..

dish thread: asked a question, so far got good responses, still got to sort it out, so that thread will help me..

now isnt this what a forum is for?
i asked valid questions and got good answers or information from doing so...

by doing the process i did, i now have a set-up by listening to the advice from users (which i really do appreciate!)
im sorry if ive missed the point here?
but i honestly dont have a clue what ive done to create such negativity around here?
