Canopus Red Status Light

I am using a canopus ADVC110 and the red status light is on. Thus rendering the unit unusable, does anyone know what the light means and a possible way to fix it?

I believe this indicates that the unit has detected the presence
of a Macrovision signal (from a commercial tape) and is
stopping you from digitizing the tape.
