Hi

I've captured alot of VHS tapes over the past few years and i'm familiar with dropped frames. I've come across dropped frames many times, usually when the VHS tape has a bad area which causes which snowy lines. This causes dropped frames.
However recently i've been trying to capture a VHS tape and im getting dropped frames for a weird reason on this VHS. When I play back the VHS tape directly to a TV, I can see that the picture tends to "shake" a little bit almost every second. But when I try to capture this VHS, wherever that picture shaking occurs, the frames are dropped?
I wanted to know if I am able to capture these frame, because then I could easily use a video stabilization filtre to fix it. But whichever software i've tryed, the frames just wont capture yet playing back the VHS on a TV actully plays back the shaking frames without any drops.

Any solutions? I've heard that TBC's can help, but isn't there any other alternative. TBC's are expensive and I don't want to waste money on a TBC just for this one tape.

Thank You.

As far as I know, a TBC in one form or another is the solution.
Perhaps a used VCR with a TBC built-in ?

Ask at the forum I mentioned above. You may even find a sticky post there.
