Is this the right place to ask about this?
I am a bit confused.
I have tried making a slideshow in Nero Vision Express. The DVD slideshow is the only one worth looking at. In my VCD and SVCD slideshows(made with Nero), the picture quality (resolution) was very bad - lots of jaggies. I assumed that was merely the resolution of mpeg1, but then .....
..... I tried Irfanview to make a VCD slideshow and the image quality is perfect (it uses Nero to burn it). However, with Irfanview, I get no audio.
So, although I have many many questions about how to make a high quality slideshow that plays in stand alone DVD players (with audio), I think it comes down to two questions at this point.
1. What's up with the varied image resolution? (My source images are 2240x1680, tiffs - 4:3 aspect ratio. I know still digital imagery very well, so I can resize if need be). My end results with Nero are horrible quality/resolution with VCD. With Irfanview I get what appears as perfect resolution - using the same source images. Also, with Nero Vision Express the images flicker on the TV, but with Irfanview they do not. Am I missing a step in Nero Vision Express?
2. Does anyone know if Irfanview can actually place audio on a VCD slideshow? I would love to use Irfanview for this as it was so quick and easy (Nero took 30 minutes to encode - Irfanview was complete in a couple of minutes. There are no transition effects in Irfanview, but the simplicity means I could crank out VCD slideshows like falling off a log.) Still, I can't figure out how to get audio in an Irfanview produced VCD. Is it possible?
Okay, three questions (".... no one expects the Spanish Inquisition")
3. Is there software that is inexpensive and easy to use - easy to see what is happening. I took a quick look at VCDEasy's guides and it appears that I have to create mpeg stills first (looks time consuming and confusing).
I am so happy to see that I can finally share digital photos with people who do not have or know how to use computers. Now I want to create a quality product.
- Variable display time for each photo
- Transitions (I pretty much only like fade out/in)
- A simple background audio track
That's about all I really want to do.
Oh ... and one more question. My vertical images get chopped off on top. How do I prevent that? (aspect ratio is 3:4).
Any suggestions?
I know this is are fairly broad, general questions and I appreciate any help - something to get me headed in the right direction. Thanks in Advance.
