editing the audio of AVI (dvd music video rips)

ive been backing up music videos from DVDs to my PC using DVD2Avi and then TMPGenc. Can ne1 suggest what software i shud use to edit the audio to make them uncensored eg putting a MP3 instead of a WAV. VritualDub wont allow MP3's.

the way i'nm currently thinking is ripping the audio to WAV using DVD2AVI and then editing the wav (which software shud i use here?) and then encoding with TMPGenc. any other suggestions
