Nero SVCD Burning Guide:Created By RedX101

You Will Need: Nero version 6,scandata.zip jus google it and you"ll find it.

Creating a new project

Ensure your MPG file is MPEG-2 and SVCD compliant. In order for your MPEG-2 file to be SVCD compliant, it must have one of the following properties (although it may still work in your SVCD player if it doesn't follow these standards, it cannot be guaranteed).
Standards:NTSC>480x480

To check which type of MPEG-2 file you have, load it into a DVD player like PowerDVD or WinDVD and check the information that is displayed in the "information" section of these players.

# If your MPEG-2 file is not SVCD compliant, you will have to re-encode it so that it is (eg. using TMPGEnc).

After launcing Nero Burning Rom you are presented with the New Compilation dialog. Scroll down the list until you see the Super Video CD -option. Choose it.

Most of the other options are optional can be left alone if you don't really care about making menus, or burning other files onto the SVCD. I'll just go through some of the more important options :

* Video CD window
o Encoding resolution : make sure you select the correct video system to match your MPG file

o Create standard compliant CD : enable this option if you want Nero to scan your MPG file to check for SVCD compliancy (see above)
* Burn
o Finalize CD : enabling this option means you can no longer write to the CD afterwards
o Write Method : choose "Disc-At-Once" mode.
Enable the menu screen

If you want to create a fancy menu screen for your SuperVCD, click on the Menu-tab and check the Enable menu -box.

Creating a menu makes it a lot easier for you, and others, to access the SuperVCD. Unfortunately you cannot create the likes of fancy menus you see on DVDs, but it's still much better than nothing, don't you think?

Choose a layout for the menu

Next you should choose a layout for your menu. Don't worry. If you don't know what kind of a menu you should choose, you can change the layout later by just coming back to the menu screen. I suggest choosing one of the thumbnail -options. Just click on the Layout -selection and choose, for example, 6 thumbnails.

You can also give a title text for your SuperVCD, change the typeface and colour of the fonts etc. These, of course, can also be edited later on as well.

After choosing the layout,Press the "New" button to create the compilation.

Locate your MPG file from the File browser on the right hand side, and drag the MPG file to the left hand side.

Nero Burning ROM will scan your MPG file to make sure it is SVCD compliant (see above), and will only let you burn a SVCD if the file is compliant, or you turn off the "Create standard compliant CD" option.

You can drag as many MPG files as you wish (the MPG files must all be the same type/properties), and each MPG file will represent a track on your SVCD (which can be forwarded/rewinded to using the DVD/SVCD player's skip track button). You can right click on the individual track titles and select the properties option - here, you can select how much of a pause you want after each track. Note that there may be a pause anyway going from one track to another even if you select 0 seconds as the pause duration, and this is most likely due to your DVD/SVCD player's track seeking time.

Edit the pause between the tracks

By default Nero adds a five second pause between all the tracks. In most of the cases this is either undesirable or outright annoying. You can get rid of the pause by choosing all the tracks, clicking the right mouse button, and choosing Properties.... Of course you can also skip this step or edit the pause individualy for each track. Make sure you leave the delay for the menu screen to Infinite.

If you haven't done so already, download the scandata.zip file and extract the contents of this ZIP archive (scandata.dat) to any directory. Then in Nero, locate scandata.dat file from the File browser on the right hand side, and drag this file to the EXT directory. This file enables you to fast foward and rewind through the SVCD when played back on a standalone DVD/SVCD player.

Edit the title of the track and choose a thumbnail

Next you'll probably want to edit the names of the tracks a bit. Nero uses the body of the filename as a default title. You can edit this by clicking on the track and choosing Properties.... Next click the Menu-tab and enter a title of your liking. You can also change the thumbnail picture for the menu screen by scanning to an appropriate position of the video using the slider.

1. use a high-quality CD-R medium
2. avoid using CD-RW discs for long-term storage
3. Limit the write speed to 4x or less(slowest speed being best output).

It might sound strange, but many DVD-players have difficulties with CD-Rs written at high speeds.

However using a medium with a capacity larger than 80 minutes is not advisable, since some DVD-players may have problems with such discs.

Okay. Now that we've got everything settled it's time to click on that Write-button, wait a couple of minutes, and enjoy the results!

Please Sticky This Thank U, cuz i didnt do all of this for nothing:)

Ps2 my favorite console no doubt about it

For many resons I many times explained I don't like both Nero and SVCDs (Nero is dangerous: encoding + burning in 1 step is difficult for a PC; SVCDs from abad ripped movie aren't much better than VCDs from the same movie; mopre, only 50' [instead of 80'] fit into a CD; will you plit into 3 Cd your movie?). But I'm democratic and I stickied your thread...

nero is more than fine if all your doing with it is using it to burn files to cd or dvd.
