How long is the movie? A VCD=80' per CD. A SVCD=50' per CD. A DVD = 155', if you don't tackle with the bitrate. Don't conver/split the files with Nero: use TMPGenc first. 1) AVI --> MPG ; 2) MPEG Tools ---> Merge & Cut---> movie = CD1+CD2 (Type= MPEG 1(2)(Super) Video-CD).
Second: I won't help anyone to make a DVD from an AVI, because the final quality will be the one of the input movie, which is less less large than 4.5 GB. VCDis more than enough.
If you want to make a DVD, read http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd.cfm .

What i am trying to accomplish is to place several episodes of an anime series on a dvd instead of watching them just on my computer, which is a 2.6 p4, with 768 of pc 3200 ram.

What about http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/multiple_svcd_on_dvdr.cfm ?

Using the trick in Step 4 http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/multiple_svcd_on_dvdr_page_4.cfm you can make a MPEG-2 file containng all the movies.

On Step 5 you transform mpv + mpa into a DVD. The problem is that DVD-Lab demultiplexes the streams that will apper on the DVD (1 large MPV with the audio contained into the MPA file = N movies).

I cannot help you more... you asked to use an application we don't suggest to make the things you want to make.

More , in general I prefere to put 80' movies into a VCD rather making, with big difficulties and expenses, a DVD with lot of movies using, in general, a low-quality video.
