Yep ,my kids have a pile of 30 cd and dvd coasters. They are not all coasters, but discs that I only needed once to do different exploits, or install different things onto my ps2 hdd. After they were on there it was time to throw them out.

At only $10 for 100 cd's, and $12 for 50 dvds its really no loss to do it this way.

4) It will ask you to overwrite the existing file, say "YES"
If it did NOT ask to overwrite the file then you have put it in
the wrong folder. Try it again

5) Burn the contents of the ENTIRE Exploit Installer folder to a cd.
You will have the following files on the ROOT of the CD

FILES - A folder, leave it as a folder and do not touch the contents inside
CDVD.IRX
EXPINST.ELF
SYSTEM.CNF
TITLE.DB
Can you please tell me where to burn the cd and in what format I mean data, image or what? Can you plz tell me thats all I need PLZ help me Stinky!

Hey $UR, I used CDGENPS2...It will create a cue file on your harddrive. Then go into a cd burning program (I use NERO) and OPEN the cue file from within it. If you are using Nero, make sure when you are browsing to find your file that "all files" is selected in file types. That way you will see your file(remember..open the cue file). Now select burn cd. No need to worry about anything else.

I am also assuming that you created your TITLE.DB file properly. Also make sure whatever PS1 game your using isn't too badly scratched. I had this issue in the beginning...I did all steps correctly, but the exploit still wouldn't boot. I wasted about 7 cdr's! The PS1 game would just start normally. When I looked at the disk of the games I was trying to use, they were in bad shape. So I used another PS1 game that was flawless and followed the exact same steps as my previous attemps. It worked without a problem.

it doesnt matter if you use cdgen. It will allow you to create a bin and cue image of thge cd. Then you just right click the .cue file and say "open with"...... then select Nero. Nero will open up, configure itself and then ask you for the blank "medium to write to". You put the cd in and it will start burning. Then you wont need to do any setting adjustments.

If you are doing it in Nero you want to make a data cd. But sometimes people get the settings messed up. Plus if you are using the swap magic disc you should build an image with cdgen anyway since swap magic is picky about the file order.

Put the files in this order

DUMMY
SYSTEM.CNF
EXPLOIT.ELF

and then everything else on the cd can be in any order after that.

NOW!!!!!

Take what was just posted, download cdgen, install it, open it up and LOOK AT THE PROGRAM WHILE YOU READ THESE POSTS AGAIN!!!!!!

I gurantee you will not be asking any more questions if you do that. If you just read this and try to understand it without ACTUALLY using the program at the same time we will have all posted for nothing.

I am starting to lose patience with these very "stupid" questions. You have admitted you are a noob to this, but you still have to do stuff for yourself. Othwerwise see if your mom can figure it out for you.

the cue file is only a couple kb in size. It just tells the burner program what .bin file to burn to a cd and what settings to do.

You can double click that and it should go right into Nero for you.

Otherwise you can right click the .bin file and tell it to open with Nero and it will do the exact same thing.

You are only one step away from being done

JL,

No, I doubt you will EVER be able to press a certain button (or combo of buttons) to get back to launchelf from within a different app. Once you launch an app the ps2 dumps launchelf out of its memory and loads the new app in. SO THAT app would need a command added into it to know to go and dump itself out of memory and re-load launchelf.

There are 2 buttons that I know of that will ALWAYS get you back into launchelf. One is located on the BACK of the ps2. It looks like a power switch.

The other is on the front right hand side of the ps2. It also has a power icon. You will notice it by its green, and red lights. You can press that one any time you want to get back to launchelf.

hope that helps little buddy

Hey, thanks for the great work, Stinky!

Got my launchelf to boot on dvd perfectly w/ swap disc& w/o the need to reorder the files (cdgenps2), although the settings/button config. don't save so I've to redo the buttons to load the apps every single time. It always say "fail to save". Well, I'm planning to burn everything again anyway& add more roms, any idea on how to fix that issue?

Nevermind, I'll search on how to do that. I'll preset the config. first before I'll burn it onto the dvd. No need to waste anyone else time.

this info was a couple of pages backk in this thread

start off by going to config. Then cfg any of the buttons, and then make it set to Misc: File browser, run it.

It will take you to a screen that looks like you're in still in LaunchELF, cuz u r :D

Go to mc0: then push r1 and push make Dir. Call it SYS-CONF. And guess what, just reset your playstation, and set your config. 100% save,

Does anyone know if it is possible to install the exploit onto a USB 2.0 Flash Drive (portable memory media) and install it onto the PS2 Mem Card via the USB port on the back of the console? Is there something like a DEXdrive program for PS2 mem cards that I could possibly use with this Media?I have a NTSC SCPH-70012 Slim PS2 w/ Built-in Net Adapter. I don't have a HDD. I do not have a mod chip, and I don't know anyone who does, but I do have a Game Shark 2 ver. 5.1. I also have downloaded Stinky's appz. and have burnt the All-In-One Disk, complete with ROMs, and Mp3's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stinky, I noticed that the DUmmy file is not in a folder anymore, does that matter?? Also I play around ALOT with this disc and add stuff to see if it will run.. When adding .elf files, you can add those directly to the list not in a folder, correct? But say you have an emulator that requires elf files and other files to run the emulator on the ps2, would you place everything in the same directory or do you place the elf file out of the folder and the rest of the files to run the emulator in a seperate folder.Last night I was up till 6am making coasters.. I noticed that when I add emulators that only required .elf file it worked perfect, example the atari 2600.. but when I had a atari 5200 by Jum, it had multiple files that was need to run plus the elf, same with colecovision.. I just placed all files out of folder on to the disc and I noticed it wouldnt run, "invalid Ps2 Disc", But like I said I removed those multiple file emulators and the disc worked? Any insight on what I am doing wrong.. Also to would it hurt for me to update the launchelf to the 3.4 or leave it 3.3?
I'm tying different things mainly b/c you said you dont use swap magic and dont support it, but there is alot of people who do so I am playing "test Dummy" with all this. Thank in advance for your seem to on going patience and knowledge.. I know thats kissing azz...

I think if you make a new folder for the .elf apps that require other files as well you should have no problems.

The reason the dummy file is not in a folder anymore is because it is supposed to be not in a folder. I just messed up. SO now a bunch of people that had problems with the disc before should have none.

The current version of launchelf that is on the disk is v3.4 final. It was 3.3 before but I updated it a few updates ago. Actually it was the same day v3.4 was releaed. I just happened to see that it was newer and figured I would add it.

If you downloaded the newest version of my disk "05-10-05" it will have a few extra folders as well. ANd some new documentation on adding .elf files of your own and fixing launchelf not saving.

Thanks for being the test dummy. I guess all the swap magic users will be gratefull.

MITH,

If you are trying to transfer the exploit from a usb drive to the MC then you ONLY want to transfer whats in the one folder over. When you run the exploit it installs everything in that folder. It also dumps your title.db file somewhere but I have not looked very hard at where it is. SO you would need to find those locations.

Otherwise you need to RUN the exploit cd from your USB drive (if you can)

I have no clue what you are really doing with the Game Shark to make this work, so I cannot support it. Explaining it better wont help either since I have not used game shark for booting backups.

Also a flip top is NOT the V12 slim ps2. Its a special case that was made for the old version ps2 that makes the top flip open. Anything that can be used with a flip top "could" be used with your slim PS2 I suppose. Since you can open it without turning it off.

Thanks for your time and input, Stinky. I have been trying to use the old trial-and-error method so as not to bother anyone and not ask too many stupid questions. I have been following the threads,I am just not having much luck, though. The ONLY thing that I can load files to with my GS is the mem card, and so far I have no way of tricking my PS2 into loading non-authorized disks. I was wondering if using your HD-Loader is possible - given my situation. Just a reminder, I have no HD, but my flash-mem stick is 512 MB. If I could just get your disk to install, I should be fine. Sorry to bother you, but you seem to be the most experienced at this.

so you want to use your flash memory stick in place of a HD?

You can actually use a memory stick or ANY USB device with USB_HDLOADER.

But I really have no idea how you can run it in your PS2 without a swap magic disc or a mod chip.

I actually got my PS2 to run with the lid open. It turns out that another noob found out how to do it with a drinking straw. It works great, too!

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/189222

I am making slow progress, however, I think Game Shark 5.0 is useless for this purpose. I just need to get the exploit to install the .elfs. This bites because I haven't seen anyone else post that has a slim with no mods, or swap disks. I am lost.
