The subject tells the story really, I'm very seriously considering in purchasing a DivX compatible stand-alone seperate for my Television, it seems that i have varied levels of success with encoding DivX/Xvid, some work some just bring up so many errors during encoding, am i alone? I have to comment that i think DivX/Xvid is far better than VCD and SVCD if they are DVD ripped, i have heard many that say DivX in not worth being encoded to MPEG-2 DVD, but i think the quality would reduce if converted to VCD or SVCD and would certainly look worse than encoded MPEG-2 DVD. I think DivX's main advantage is its ability to reduce 'blockiness' especially during 'fire' scenes for example where VCD and SVCD seem to make a blocky mess of it, i would rather have half the resolution and no blockiness. I like to compare DivX to the quality of DVB for a 90 minute movie @700MB encoded using AutoGK at default settings. Could someone reply and rate what i have said, whether its rubbish or has some truth.
