DVD2SVCD Image file too large ?

I'm converting some .avi files to DVD using DVD2SVCD .. but everytime the Image file and Video Folders are too big to burn to DVDR (but only just)

how can i solve this ?

Lower the bitrate.

Thanks i'll try that, but i thought DVD2SVCD sorted out the bitrate to fit on the DVDR with the audio etc ...
