What did I do wrong?

I was using Tmpgenc DVD author to author a dvd, and i went through all the steps as i was supposed to. When i came to the output section it told me that the combined bitrate exceeded 98480 i think, so i went into track settings and changed the audio to mono channel mode and sampling frequency to 48k, for some reason 48k doesn't appear in stereo channel mode...so i go back and it makes the dvd files and all goes well and it played in my dvd drive on the pc, but it wouldn't play in my home theatre dvd player, it just gives me the message "no valid disk"...does it have something to do with the fact that i made those changes in track settings? i've made a dvd before but i used ifoedit instead. it worked in my dvd player but it was out of sync, which is why i'm using tmpgenc. any ideas?
