SECOND LINK FROM ABOVE POST.

Here is a step-by-step instructions (with pics) how to remake your game iso's which should resolve most high TOC problems:

http://www.exploitstation.com/articles/cdvdgen%20inst.php

Again, this would work for those games with FALSE_LBA information (list of games that have FALSE_LBA and/or dummy files... and how to shrink them) found here:

http://www.ps2hd.com/forums/faq.php?faq=dvdshrink#faq_shrink001

I am hoping shrinking the games as much as possible will help loading speeds with USB Extreme. Not as easy as just sending them over to the HDD, but if it works then you might as well do it.

Let me know if shrinking the games works out since I don't have my USB Extreme copy yet.

Thanks,

PRIMITIVE -

You mentioned you had The Punisher working on your USB Extreme. I just got mine and have been palying around with it. Spiderman2 and X-men Legends works fine... but the Punisher doesn't seem to load. It tries to access the hard drive, then the HDD just gives up it seems like. How did you copy it over? I have tried from a working backup disk as well as creating an ISO from the backup.

Thanks,

I have usb extreme "working" with a seagate 160gb 7200rpm.
copied 10 games to disk using the instructions provided, 2 will load and play. two load and lock up. one won't even copy to the hdd. (Two of the games i tried have patches that supposedly fix them)
the two games that work do not show videos correctly (like watching a large video file on a 486), but work perfectly otherwise.
if you want to play games that are compatible then usb extreme works fine, but otherwise don't bother.
anyone know of a decent compatibility list? i've only found 2 and neither is close to adequate.

I use clonyxxl to get encryption and then use Alcohol 120 proof!!!! Then everything seems to work. I've recently got my hands of GTA-San Andreas and GOW and those games are awesome....don't you get tired of that fucking loading in GTA...it's gone for me. You don't believe me well that really hurts my feelings....i'm not sure if i'll be able to sleep at night....Right, are you kidding me, Like i said earlier in a post...i'm not bragging i'm trying to enter some insight on things. Anyhow, i'm working on FN Round 2.

I've noticed the post lately and there is some talk about shrinking files....now i know a few things about computers as i am sure most of you know a little about pc's too! But, if you shrink the game and back it up to the hard the then isn't this an extra step that the ps2 is going to have to take in loading the game thus slowing everything down....i've never shrunk anything but the game companies pocket when backing up games to hdd. I don't know just a thought.

it may be possible to play old games, but the ones with the backup checks won't work, even if the game was going to work at all.

supposedly there was a half dozen or so games that were online capable before the dnas checks, those are the ones that are possible to play online, according to what i've read. (the internet is always a perfectly reliable source of information!!) :P

ive been pissing about with the hdadvance and usb extreme all day.

the hdadvance will not play online games of any sort, the dnas check is but a minor problem which all of us can get by, all i get when trying to get online is network adapter is disabled.

ive been informed its disabled because its primary function now is to power the hhd.

apart from the online problem the only game that wont play up to yet(touch wood) is socom seals 2.all the other games i own work fine.(apart from going online)

as for the usb extreme, it takes the piss. no infact i wouldn't piss on it if it was on fire.
i have found out of 25 ish games only pro evo 4 and gta san andreas work.
sucks ass big time, cinematics are shaky.
load times are on par with cd/dvd times.

so far it seems any game that has an online ability wont boot up at all.

i had hope that using the usb extreme would free up my network adapter and allow online play, but i am yet unsuccessful in getting a online game to work at all.

my next plan of atcion is to buy a usb ethernet adapter for the ps2, well you never know unless you give it a go.
100% guaranteed working hdadvance games so far are.
this is football
need for speed 2
ghost recon jungle strom
killzone
pro evo 4
gta san andreas
socom 1
syphon filter the omega strain

wow didn't realise how little ive tested, mind you ive been testing alot ogf games which dont work on the usb extreme.

oh backing up with the usb extreme also sucks ass big time.i can back up 3 games with hdadvance too the one game with usbextreme.

im pretty much had enough of this dam usb extreme(usb pile of shit), im returning my copy and im sticking with hdadvance which is an excellent product its only fault its inability to go online.mind you sony has had their fair share to do with that one.

i ill add more compatable hdadvance games as i get through them.

bear in mind this is just my experience and nothing is set in stone

wait, i dont see the exact problems you are having with USB extreme... and I have the new ps2 slimline, and from what i read from you, u dont have the new one because you are able to use HDadvance, so they new ps2 slimline has an 'updated' version of its USB port which should make cinimatics and everything fine... so i duno

as far as im aware the new ps2 slim line still only has usb 1.1.
as always though cant say my source is a hundred percent.
but yes your right i dont have the new slimline ps2.

but if you have the old ps2 i would recommed the hdadvance.
to backup games on to it, just take it out of the console attach it to a caddy.
thats it backs up from a image or cd/dvd.
programs name is winhip and its so easy and fast to use.
but for you guys with the new ps2 slimline, im guessing from your post the usbextreme is your only ooption.
that would be the only way i would use it anyway.

how could you not see the problems with usb extreme, ive tried loads of games to day and only two work.
granted gta san andreas works spot on with just the odd pause.

anyway just wanted to let others know the score with each method.
please feel free to ask any question, ill help if i can.

from what i have read usb extreme sucks. hardly works on any game. waste of money. too bad i had high hopes for it since it is made by the same people who made hd advance.

it's still a new product, there's hope yet. just don't count on the current version for anything other than an expensive coaster.

erm, so you're gonna try replacing the usb1 ports with usb2 ports?
Fat chance that it won't work, actually I'm SURE that it won't work.
The software doesn't support these ports so they would never work (heck those ports didn't even exist when the software was written).
Don't screw your PS2, it won't work

which is better hd loader or hd advance? can you put the hdd in your computer and connect to the ps2 with a lan cable? if that is possible that would work with the version 12 ps2 at 100 mbs instead of the usb 1.1 speed of 12 mbs.
