Cog swap yes ( if Sony isn't wise to that cause the PS2 Slim doesn't have any cogs used in it since it is a flip top and not a motorized drive)
HD advanced no (no Hard Drive Bay Slot)
just load the cog swap file and do what ever you do to play PS1 discs( you wont have to stop the disk since the cog swap file does it for you which means no damage done to the console nore the disk)
the swap magic alows you to boot up the VCD Player on a CDR(can't use the memory card exploit, but allows you to boot the player off the CDR)

the cog swap works with ps2 games only (thats all I have been able to get booting with it).
I don't know about the sm3 exploit since I just heard it from you, But I don't see any reason why It wouldn't work. People said that the HD Loader wouldn't work, yet I got it working by renaming the boot file(.elf)

if you really want to play vcds you could ethier use a dvd player that compatible, get the PSX VCD Add on adapter( the old playstation),or use etheir a Dreamcast which has two players. One is a freeware that someone made and the second is a pay one ( I use the freeone when Im not using my PS2 which is in my basement)(the Dreamcast does not have any pc connections, only plays .mpg files)

Not all exploit will work, such as DVDX. DVDX won't check the dvd drive unless it is on a disk, if put on the usb stick it checks the usb stick instead of the Dvd drive. and yes put all the files on the usb stick if they fit because the usb stick is only 16mb and any other usb sticks won't work with the action replay because of how the program was made.

No, You would need to have a program to access the usb stick and there tons of different makes and sizes that the program wouldn't fit on a cdr probably.
Sony made it where only programs can access the usb ports such as drives for a racing wheel/ joystick made for the ps2( the drivers are saved on the memcard and when the wheel/joy stick is hooked in, it tells it to first look at the memcard for the drivers and then the DVD drive for the disc if not already installed)

I don't think there is a way to use a usb stick to load the action replay. you can use the action replay to use the usb stick. but not the other way around

I don't think so because it won't work with other usb devices, only that one usb stick that comes with it.

The usb Stick is used ethier for the Sega Genisis Emulator that come with the Action Replay on the pc disc( put that file on the usb stick and you can play sega genisis on your ps2 without any mod needed. Check out codejunkies.com, they are the makers of the action replay and show what it can do (what they do show you is all the legal stuff, not how to use it to hack the system ^_^). The usb stick is also used to transfer your saves to the computer( turns your computer into a giant memory card^_^. And Yes you will get all the new codes for all the new games because you can download them directly to your ps2 using the action replay( built in tools connect your ps2 to there servers and downloads all the new codes to your system for free, just need to have the the internet to get them.

I live in the USA and and you have to get the Action Replay Max Evo Edition, none of the ones you are thinking of are correct. If you can get the Action Replay Max Evo Edition, Make sure it comes with a USB Drive. If you don't, then all your money buying it will be wasted since you wont be able to play backups of PS2 games, and no media player (Built in, and the PS2 Reality Player, Plus DVD Region X(No lock out on DVDs from the USA, China...) Heres a link to the Action Replay Max Evo Edition
http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/customer/product.php?productid... ( I am just using there link to show what it looks like(click on the Picture if you want to see it better) I would use Ebay since they are the most reliable and no hassel internet company.

My Action Replay is the NTSC Version, you need the PAL Version(different display than the NTSC) (NTSC is American and some other places) Also if you have a EB Games, Music Recyclery, Best Buy, or Circut City, I would check them to see if they have Action Replay Max Evo Edition for your PAL Console( also Each PS2 has a Region lock allowing only certain games to be played such as a USA game can't be played on a European Console and vise versa)Once you get the Action Replay Max Evo, you can load boot files allowing you to play other region games such as a USA Game! ^_^

Have you ever heard of or seen the PS2 "EGBROWSER"?
It's a web browser thats made for the PS2 so you can go online, watch movies over the internet, and play mp3 files. I have been looking all over the web for the download since it only came out in japan and other certian areas.
Some one in the UK found a way to make their Network disc act like a browser allowing them to go on line(tricking the console), but it only works with the UK NetWork Disc not the US Version(I wish it was compatible with the US Version, That would be great!!!^_^. Or if I could get the UK Browser disc or iso file of it.)
You might be able to do it your self since I think you can use trick on your PAL system. Heres the link
