Hello all. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to unpack a ps2 game, and then repack with their own music? I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I figured this was a good place to look for guidance.

The reason I ask is that I've been playing Soul Calibur 3, and I find its music tracks rather subpar to be honest. I thought it might be a neat project to replace some of these crappy tunes with classic Soul Edge or Soul Calibur jams, but I have no idea where to start.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I too wish I could add my own music, so when I play LA Rush, I could put in some 'Rock and Roll Shit' and deepsix that rap crap. To each their own.

If it's format of music is .adx, then yes you can. There is a tutorial for this on Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain, but you can use the same method for (I believe) any game that uses adx; in fact, Resident Evil 4 uses it, and so does Street Fighter anniversary Collection. Here's the link for it: http://owenrocky.50megs.com/wwehctp.html

Now if you can replace the music, that also means you can pretty much keep the music if you want to eh? I'm going to write a tutorial for that later on and I'll provide the link. If it wasn't for that tutorial, I would have never have thought of it, so credit goes to the author.

UPDATE: As promised, heres the link for the step by step I wrote.

Thanks for the help. I managed to stumble through it on my own, but I'm glad someone finally responded with good info.

If anyone is interested in doing this, you may have to replace the old music files with new files of the exact same size. Not sure if this is true for every game, but SC3 would get pissed if the system tracks had a different size. You can use any size file for the level music however.

P.S. You also need to write the adx files so that they will loop with correct timing. That's the fun part. :)
