laser wont hit the stop switch. the thing that moves the laser dont stop spinning. can any one help

The laser may be knocked out of position, so it continuesly tries to move the laser in the right position but it cant, so it deosnt stop. When you put the PS2 in standby mode, where does the laser stop?
