Hello, i am new to the forums, and its taking me forever to read everything on it since its all interesting.
Today i recieved a Ps2 slim kit pro thingy, with Swap magic 3.6 to make backups. i got lots of games, but over years i lost many of good ones to the scratches and..."Accidents". I tried Burning my Smackdown Vs Raw 2006, by making an iso out of it and burning it on a DVD-R 8x on minimum speed. but it wouldnt work. it allways said that it was an incorect ps2 Disc. i tried several other games like Metal gear solid 3 and RE4 and tried all possible variations, on all languages, not that it shoulda made difference, and all the regions. NTSC and PAL.
i cannot simply clone the dvds because Alcohol 120% which i used to burn the games, made my second dvd drive dissapear and made a virtual drive in its place. i cannot correct that for some reason.
except for that, my question is... are there some special DVD brand that i should use to burn my backups? i am using Comp USA brand if it matters. and if i could get a responce till tommorow it would be nice , so i could go and try to look for some other brand.
Thank you for your help in advance.

it could very well be the media. Try some ritek, taiyo yuden or verbatim and if those work then it probably was the media. You could try using dvddecrypter to burn with eventhough it should work fine with alcohol. Are you sure you're using the whole swap magic contraption properly? Almost forgot, theere's a few games out there that need to be rebuild to work with swap magic so you might wanna check into that as well.

Yeah, ^^ that pretty much sums it up. Media is a common problem, the re-building.. not so much but for a few anyway.

EDIT: I don't think WWE needs re-built!

I'm sure the media you are using, is the source of the problem. Try some Verbatim, Or Tuiyo Yuden.
Also, special boot is for forcing the game to boot up in the specified video mode. For example, if you were to change the Normal to PAL or NTSC go back up to load program and special boot it (Square) it would load up in the specified video mode.

EDIT : Also, you should burn with DVD Decrypter at 1x ;)

Sometimes burning ps2 games at 1x speed causes the game to load slow. First of all, check your ps2 Konamix, If you have a slimline, install the tools, You can't just put swap magic disc in, and open the lid and press x, that causes it to not boot because the ps2 alreaddy detected you open the disc cover, You MUST install the parts. And when you start swap magic, the lid must be open.
Burn a ps2 disc using DVD Decrypter, Ill show you a guide. Smackdown vs Raw Has Dummy Files which Apparently need to be taken out or replaced.
Well heres the guide:
Requirments:
Dvd Decrypter - Can be Downloaded from this site. Just Click Software.
Dvd Burner - Make sure it can burn the dvd r's your using.
METHOD
UpLoading The PS2 ISO to Your HardDrive:
1) Firstly, Install DVD Decrypter, after it has finished installing, double click the DVD Decrypter Icon at your desktop. After you open it, it will show a loading sign than this will show.
2) Next, Put in your PS2 Game and let it load up. It will show the information on the right on whats on the ps2 disc. Next Press Mode>ISO>Read, and it will show this.
3) Next, Put the destination of the ps2 iso, preferbally in a folder named of the game.
4) After thats all done, Click Read button. Sit Back and wait till its finish uploading.
Burning The PS2 ISO to the Blank DVDR
1) Now Go back to DVD Decrypter and Press Mode>ISO>Write.
2) Next Click the folder looking icon and search for the ps2 iso you just made and highlight it and press ok.
3) Next Put in your Dvd R into your dvd writer drive. Wait till it loads and choose the write speed. Preferbally the half speed of the disc (E.G. DVD-R 8x, Burn at 4x). Next Click Burn. Again sit back and wait till it finishes burning. After its done, take it out and test the game. If it doesn't work. Do either of these steps:
Rebuild The ISO - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/259416 - (Guid By Me)
If you burned the iso at 1x and it didnt work. Burn it at a higher speed.
Hope this guide has help you.

Burning at 1x does not make the game run slow.. and incase you hadn't noticed.. the guide you just pasted.. is for need for speed most wanted..
Yeah If you're using a slimeline, you'll need to get the parts installed. Take a look - www.swapmagic3.com
-Mike
EDIT : The game to the best of my knowledge, does not need re-built.
EDIT 2 : Quote: Today i recieved a Ps2 slim kit pro thingy
Looks like he also has the tools,3DLuis. Also, you're guide is for Battlefront 2 - Not WWE!
And "Copywright" is spelt copyright ;)

Okay guys, i think its good now. Everything works purrfect.
riped the images with dvd-decryptor, then reburned the iso back on TDK brand DVD-R and it worked. wierdest thing tho. i got an imported game from russia. PAL version, and it still worked with my swap magic things even if i put it on ntcs settings - cool.
but, really - Thank you for the help guys.

To boot it up in NTSC/PAL. Changing the selection won't work. You have to either highlight PAL/NTSC then go upto load program and special boot (square).
-Mike
EDIT : But it's good to hear that you finally got it sussed.
