Wondering if the DNAS id will copy to the PS2 if i load the game to the hard drive. I know when u create and image for the PC it doesnt include the DNAS id which has to be extracted and re-pathed to the backup CD but im hoping the entire CD will copy over. If not ill just create a backup and patch the DNAS then load that to the hard drive. hope it all made sense.

Doesnt matter what you do, you cannot get online while running a game off the hd.

This question is commonly asked...

When you go online, the HDD is disabled, making it impossible to play an online game from your HDD. As of now, there is no fix for this, but hopefully something is in the works.

It is? Interesting. How about games like Final Fantasy XI that require a HDD?

I don't think it has to do with the hdd being turned off because if you try to play non dnas games online off the hdd you will have no problems. I believe it was more to do with hdloader or hdadvance interfering with the dnas so you get errors. Yes, the same rule applies to usb hdd.

NTSC DNAS threads.

The official sony hd has dnas built into it for games that require a hd online (still wont work for other dnas enabled games though).

Just thought there might be and easier alternative instead of ripping patching this and that and then burning again.

Game cloner cant do anything special for ps2 games. As for someone comming up with a way to get past dnas on the hd, some people were working on it and got a few games to work. But, it required using sony code, which is illegal, so i think they stopped.

When you try to play a non dnas game online from the HDD? Dude you're confusing me >_< !! j/k

The info I posted is from what I've read, and I tried to go online with an online enabled game from the HDD and it didn't work. The network adapter and the HDD reminds me of a car with a clutch, the HDD is the gas pedal and the network adapter is the clutch. Think of pressing the gas pedal down and the game loads from the HDD, but in order to use the clutch (netadap), you have to not press the gas pedal down or else there will be a conflict.

I've read for games like FFXI, it uses a mainframe to store everything (your character, level, all the good stuff). I can't remember why it needs an HDD though, if its just going to power down when the NA is in use.

Im a big online freak myself and it'd be great to be able to run games direct off the hard drive to play online but looks like ill be using the bloody discs! Interesting thought ofnir1, maybe a USB stick could be incorporated into it somehow to be the backup for wen u let the 'clutch' out lol. I suppose if there is anything out at the moment its probably highly illegal etc etc, bloody $ony!
