hello
i own a ps2 scph50003 chinese with a mp-388 mod chip
now the problem is the system started showing please insert ps1 or ps2 disc i had to reset many times untill a game starts,one day the system just showed a black screen no browser menu or anything,lights and fan are working,a friend of mine told me that the mod chip and the mainboard has overheated and got spoiled.
so did anyone face this type of problem?

If it still gets a blank screen turn the PS2 on, and use the disable fucntion for your chip to see if the PS2 boots, if it does, then your chip has fried, i think you should remove the chip and see if the PS2 still works.

If the PS2 says that please insert a PS1 or PS2 disk, it means it is reading the disk, but is not accepting them, becoz they r copies i suppose, the "insert valid PS1 or PS2 disk" screen only comes up when a non-chipped PS2 reads a copy, or a chipped PS2 reads a invalid sort of disk, So i would say the Chip has fried, thas y it isnt loadin the backups.

If It shows the red screen, then undoubtedly the chip is the source of the problem then yeah.

now i've removed the mod chip same problem a black-screen no browser menu at all lights and fan r ok
whats annoying is that all this happened after the warranty period got over
no chance of exchanging it :(

but how can i use a swap magic and the system is just showing black screen
a person told me it might be something called BA a small chip on the mainboard it got burnt
does any1 know whats that ba?

Does it work after you do a soft reset once it is switched on?
