Formating a HDD to use with PS2 Slim

All I want to do is use my existing usb harddrive to get extra content for FFXI and for save games. How do I do that.

I have a Maxtor on touch 2 - 200G

To use a HDD on a slimline is if you have a harddrive with usb conected to it
