Sorry if this has been posted before, i'm experiencing error -833 everytime i'm trying to connect online...

I'm aware the solution would be using machine id changer, however, i already burned the maid-change (MAchine ID = maid) as CDR and DVDR, and place it on my ps2, but the maid-change won't start, ignoring the maid-changer and goes to browser menu instead...

1. do i need swap magic to boot the maid-changer?
2. can i use hd loader / my harddisk to boot the maid-changer?
3. how do you check you ps2 version? i'm not sure whether my ps2 is NTSC/PAL, USA/JAPAN/ITA/whatever :(... (i can see the model #, SCPH5000 i think...)
4. how do you check if you ps2 is modded or not? i'm not sure, since i'm illiterate when it comes to hardware :p...

Before you can go online with the iso's on your hard drive, you have to get it patched with windip, after if you still have prob. Than to check what your ps2 version is, than look at the box, it should tell you

scph50000 is a version you can't change the system ID on (it's a v9+) so, even if you could get the maid change to boot there would be no point. Yes, you do need swap magic or a mod chip to boot up maid change. You can tell your system is moded if you can play backups or boot any other burned software/utility (which it looks like you can't 'cause the maid change won't boot). As far as telling what your ps2 is just look for the ps2 version thread on the forums. (3dluis, maybe you should add that one to your signature too ;) )

i just found out that my console is v10, since the dvd is v3.02...

there is no problem with the dvd, if there were, error 402 would be shown instead, but i got error 833 (region error)...

i know that most ppl already told me that in v9+, you can't change the machine ID :(....
but is there anyway for me to change the machine ID of my v10 console?

well, maybe someone already created a new maid-changer that can change the machine id of v9+?
